My TH55 has started making a delayed popping sound after the stylus has entered a command or after one of the bottom buttons has been pressed.

The popping sound occurs whether or not I have the sound muted. Additionally, when I press a bottom button, the pressing of it will produce a "pop" through the speaker (when not muted), followed by the popping sound in about a second and a half from the speaker (after the new screen is displayed). If I press the button a second time or more in quicker succession, I will get the normal beep. If the sound is muted, the annoying sound will occur about a second and a half after the button is pressed.

Any suggestions to eliminate this annoying noise? Is there some option in a preference I'm overlooking (like disconnecting annoying pops)? I did a search in ClieSource to find that a popping sound started and later quit on some previous Clies. Might a hard reset return it to normal?

Thanks.

Receiving no response to my initial inquiry, I did a hard reset, but the speaker pop remains.

It seems a pop is produced after a new screen is displayed. For instance, pressing the jog dial will produce the speaker pop about a second after the new screen is displayed.

This must be some sort of hardware issue. I'm within the 30 days of purchase from Dell, so I may see about returning it and getting another, unless some wise and experienced forum participant has a better idea.
