Of course I do, sometimes my Clie even reads me a bedtime story to put me to sleep ;)

You gotta love Audiobooks!!

I haven't tried audiobooks yet . . . but I DO use my Clie to read in bed every night . . . :D

Every night, I bought an extra battery charger so I could charge it in the bed. Normally I use it 2 to 3 hours every night.

fssia
03-17-2004, 04:57 AM
halo_gps, is the charger right next to u? If so, I remember reading somewhere that it is not good for your health or something like that. How I wish I could have my charger next to my bed...sigh.

halo_gps
03-17-2004, 05:21 AM
I use a travel charger, so it sits on the floor and the cable goes up to my Clie.

I tend to get asleep while reading so it's really important to me to have the charger. The PDA Is a basic tool for me and I need it every morning for 4 hours.
Sometimes I'm afraid of breaking something with all the cables that go thru my bed or next to it.

I have a unlimited cellphone account, and I use it a lot, maybe 60 minutes per day, so I don't know what's worst.

Do you bring your Clie to bed? Yes, I do! But mostly when I travel. I listen to some music or audio books before I sleep. In the morning my Clie wakes me up. I also use it as a torchlight during the night. Which is especially useful when you sleep in places you are not used to. :)

I bring mine to bed every night. It's my alarm clock, plus I surf, check email, or read on it before I go to sleep and check email and sometimes surf in the morning when I first wake up.

I don't bring it IN bed per se. I have it next to my head on a table. My Clie, in one form or another has been my alarm clock for years. BIG clock rules. It is REALLY loud on my NX80 and gets me up 95% of the time. The other 5% is when I've been out drinking and nothing short of an earthquake will rouse me. (I've slept through those too, in Cali!!)

Of course I do!

Have to clean up my schedule, read some ebooks or the news on Avantgo, play a game or two or get the numbers for someone I haven't talked to in a while so they don't think I've totally forgotten them ( I am NOT a phone person).

Plus, it's usually low on juice by then and I use my old T615 cradle to juice her up (NX70V):)

ehheheheheh my wife gets alittle upset when I use the clie more then i talk her . :D

Wow! So I see a lot of ppl do actually have their Clies next to them when they go to sleep. Yeah I also use mine as a Alarm Clock now...I need two: Big Clock and WA Clock, lol! :o

I used to read Plucker ebooks that I made myself or play Bejeweled or Cubis or whatever kind of games before I sleep. BUT I soon realised that sometimes I get too addicted to the games (esp. Space Trader) or ebook, I don actually sleep the whole night! So I dun read before my sleep anymore and I try not to get too carry away by the games I play before sleep...since I can alwez pause them and con't later. :D

ClieKun, as u can see, I am a light sleeper, so I have to cultivate healthy before sleep and sleeping habits...no reading or any activity that make my brain too alert. I think that would inhibit the alpha wave that puts us to sleep. ;)

My obsolete NX60 functions solely as my alarm clock on my nightstand. It is also used for playing Snails because my NZ90 has smartlithium junk that screws up.

fssia
03-18-2004, 12:24 AM
Wow! A NX60 solely as alarm clock and to play games! Now imagine if I have one Clie on the bedside table as an alarm clock, reading and play games...then another one on the move...that's a kewl idea! A good excuse for me to go out & buy that TH55 now, lol! :D

Yeah we dun wanna sleep on our Clies...they're too delicate. If we've very bad sleeping habits then we may even kick the Clies out of beds and on to the floor...no problem for ClieKun since he sleeps on futon. ;)

Before taking the Clie to bed I used to take the laptop, It's kinda hard and expensive to get good books in China.
I started reading e-books 2 or 3 years ago and I would use my old Cassiopea E-10, then one day I slept over the poor thing and the screen cracked, so I started using the laptop, cause with it I'll always remembered to put it down, it was really heavy:D
Now I'm just looking for an excuse to upgrade:eek:

It's siesta time:D

Steele
03-18-2004, 04:00 AM
Yeah, I'm a laptop man myself. Goes to bed with me everynight, along with the clie getting charged and synced. I get a headache trying to read anything off of the little clie screen however. Until PDA screens get a little bigger, I'm afraid they won't be a true multifunction device for me. I've seen people type notes into them rarely - all the students I know use laptops for most things, use PDA for PIM functions.

Why would anyone buy an IPod if they already owned a clie???? I'm baffled. It's a complete relief to me that i'm no longer tempted. I can hold hours of music on my 256MB CF - why would I want another 15 GB minus 256 MB worth? I''m baffled, but maybe some people have huge music collections? They must to need a 15 or 20 GB player. Or is it the cool factor?

fssia
03-18-2004, 04:20 AM
Steele, some ppl dun use their Clies for music. I rarely listen to mp3 on my Clie because it drains the battery like nobody's business. I guess another reason is I usually keep my Clie on the desk or in the bag...a bit hard to listen to music on the go that way. :o

Steele
03-18-2004, 04:24 AM
Hmmm. MP3 on NZ90 doesn't seem to affect battery life much. At least not compared to camera! :) But I hear what you are saying. I just don't like having to carry around so many "toys" - I'm very big into integrated - even if it means sacrificing funtionality. The sound quality is so good from my clie though - I've tried out the iPod - it was good but kind of heavy for an MP3 player I thought.

15Gb???? Still seems like overkill but then so did 640K memory at one time.

Strange, I can play about 5h of mp3 until the battery goes down to 30%, 30minutes of listening have no impact in the battery of my SJ33

I bring my clie to bed with me sometimes.
It depends on the re-charging needed.
I have only 1 charger at home, so if it needs re-charging.
Also if I need re-charging/sleep, I just let it stay in its cradle.
It is great to be able to use it at night in the dark though.
The travel charger sounds like a great idea.

I used to sleep on a bed. But now with my NX70, a Dell laptop and other toys I need more space. So I just put the mattress on the floor and sleep on that. Don't have to worry about my toys dropping a few feet to the floor anymore :)

I prefer not to use the NX70 for music though. Running Audio Player makes the Clie sluggish. I'm afraid to overclock it as it runs rather warm. Anyway I do have a Sony MS9 Network Walkman for this task. [Doesn't it seem Sony will create irresistable toys that bites you back? The MS9 works great IF you use MagicGate & ATRAC3.]

i've slept on my nx60 many a times. it's a durable little thing. the drop from bed to floor is about 3 feet but it's onto carpet (or my stack of books and stuff) next to my bed.

it usually ends up being in my bed because i hear the alarm go off to wake me up (is use the "wind" soundfile) and i guess i subconsciously reach for my clie, open the clamshell, turn off the alarm, and close the clamshell. then i just stop there and am back asleep with the clie in my hand. too bad i can't subconsciously put it back on my nightstand.

BTW, If I'm not wrong they tend to use partner over BF, because BF is to sexist or something like that. Read it somewhere.

Lol! Luckily I'm no TW woman! :D I do agree that some Chinese names are pretty unisex...eg. my name. So it's kinda hard to tell by the name.

CK, u have a "sweet tooth" for Oriental ladies? ;)

halo_gps, u still haven't tell me where exactly are you located at, is it Kunming or Barcelona? :p

Kunming right now and it's gonna be for a long time (Probably)
Actually I kinda love Kunming, it's probably one of the best places in china.
