View Full Version : NX cream series skins
I'm currently working on a cream coloured skin series for my NX. I wanted to create some skins that werent just the default with background pics so I started on the cream skin and liked the colour so I made another one (which I have on my nx atm). I'll update this thread if i put new cream skins up.
Heres the links

If you have any feedback or comments post them here. If you have ideas or want to donate (who says I cant try) email me at xlr8@iinet.net.au . If it fits the current series i'll prolly do it cause it looks cool but i'll consider other ideas if you want me to make a skin for you.
P.S. For some cool wondersilk skins, check out jbarr (http://g04.com/html/modules.php?name=My_eGallery). I'll probably do some wondersilks once the english version comes out

Very nice! Just wondering if they work on NR series...
The statusbars wont work on the NR and i'm not sure about the VG. If i get enough requests I may be able to modify it for the NR but dont hold your breath

Which program is the best (and simple) to manage different skins?
I dont use any, I just have one skin on at a time and delete it using a warm reset

I don't use a skin manager either, but many like Photoskin.

Any comments/suggestions for the skins?
Love the Dark one:) The only suggestion I would make is to make the Statusbar Okey compatible.
I'll consider it if enough people want it but i dont know heaps about okey. Guessing the buttons will be in the 'background'. I may just put templates on the right areas rather than complete icons. Anyone else want okey?

I realized that your status does work with Okey and it is just a matter of putting button picture in the correct places. You do nice work.

I think an Okey status bar would be great! These are some nice skins.

I'd be more inclined to use your VG and status bar if it supported okey...all you would have to do is put the icon pictures on the status bar
Ok, Looks like i'm gonna be making an okey status bar but I will need some info. I'm just gonna use someones okey skin as a reference to where the buttons go, but are the keys for specific things or for customiseable apps? Also, for the cream skin it shouldnt be a problem but because the status bar on the darkcream skin is non-uniform there may be some 'clipping' issues with the up/down buttons if it uses the graffiti up/down controls or is there okeys own buttons?

Looks like they match the buttons in the preferences section minus the calc button. So whatever is assigned to them will popup so I think that going with the standard 4 Datebook, Addressbook, Memopad and Todo is the way to go for the most general audience. Thanks for taking this on.
I've done a test skin for Okey. Its pretty much the same but with outlines where the keys are.

NOTE: Rename the file extension to .prc (its not a zip file, i just renamed it to upload it)
I assume it is supposed to be attached and waiting approval. Thanks Xlr8:)

They look great, but neither one work on NR series. Would really love it if it can be done to work with NR. Thank you.
When i went to edit it, it said the file was uploaded so i dont know what was happening. Just email me for the file and i'll send it to u (xlr8.iinet.net.au).
As for the NR skins, i dont have a NR skin generator so i'm not quite sure how to use it
opps, that email shoulda been xlr8@iinet.net.au. I have the okey file if anyone wants to email me for it so they can suggest changes. I'm thinking of doing a splattered blood skin but the blood splatters dont look the right shape. Anyone else got ideas they would like to contribute?

with the okey program...whether there is anything in the 4 designated spots or not...it will still direct you to the "memo" "to do's" "address book" "datebook"....basically you would just need to put the image of the buttons in those 4 locales....which you can see on a status bar that is usable with okey....whether there is a blank space or an image of an icon...it will still work...and not affect the operation of the okey program...hope that sorta helps

The creme skin does this because there are so many fine lines in it. I see that too.

Very impressive, Tixx! Are you sure you're not an eyecare professional?! :D
To clarify, two factors which increase the human eye's perception of flicker is high spatial frequency (tightly packed fine lines), and one that hasn't been mentioned yet -- increased brightness. I don't have the skin to check out this little experiment, but I would assume that if you decreased the screen brightness it should reduce or eliminate the flicker. Not that you'd want to reduce your brightness just for that reason, but it'd be nice to know if it works...

No, just knew this from science classes. So I guess you confirmed some of my useless knowledge and made it useful.:) Cool. I can say I know something now:D I did not know about the brightness though:(
Yep, the cream status has thin horizontal pixel width lines that u can notice if you look really close. I just liked the idea of having very fine lines that you could hardly see. If theres too much flickering i'll double the thickness of the lines if you want

Just a hint, its easier to make an nr skin then use nxskingen to conver to nx. That's what I did with my matrix one.
