One really cool thing about working a block from Newbury Street in Boston is Newbury Opennet, who sponsor a bunch of 802.11 WiFi access points along that tony avenue. You can read about it at
http://www.newburyopen.net/launch_pr.html this link (http://www.newburyopen.net/launch_pr.html) .

Now that I have my TH55, I want to use my instant messenger when I sip espresso and read foreign newspapers ... oh, all right, I'm really reading Maxim and drinking beer! Sheesh, happy now?

The only one I see is AOL Instant Messenger (http://www.handango.com/aolsoftware/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=506&jid=XC2C8A828AC41668F3DD92B72D318AA6&platformId=1&productType=2&productId=98877&sectionId=0&catalog=1), and they want $20 for it.

Has anyone tried AIM for the Palm? Are there other services that would let me chat for free?

lol

Do a search and you'll come across this: AIM for PALM (http://www.aol.co.uk/aim/palm/)

Note where this site is located!!

Tsk tsk, they can't outsmart the savvy NET user.
ENJOY!!

People around here enjoy verichat, have never used that myself.

PS STAY away from AOL for the Clie, not hi-res+ =/

And after you tried Verichat have a look at Chatopus (http://www.chatopus.com/) - No yearly fees :)

I've VeriChat currently installed. :)
Also another Japanese version of MSN Messenger to support Japanese text chat.

Just the 2 above are already 2 seperate applications.
Will give Chatopus a try on my UX50 since it has Landscape support as well as native language support! That means I can have everything combined. :D

Does Chatopus have the ability to notify you of and let you respond to an IM while you are in another program. That is the ONE feature in Verichat that I could never give up..

Yes, CLEAmber, it uses the OS alarm system to notify you of incoming messages when not in Chatopus or during a session with someone else. You then can either dismiss or reply to the message. It works nicely on the UX, Command + M (ctrl + t, m) sends the message for instance.

I like it a lot, not only because you don`t depend (and pay yearly) on the services of one company to use it. It also has widescreen support.
