Help! Having trouble configuring CF on my NX70V

Hey all,

Ok, I'm having a hell of a time configuring the Compact Flash on my Clie NX70V. I just went out & bought myself a new 256Meg CF card, and I can't even use it because the Clie wants Memory-Stick only! :mad: To fix the problem, I've followed the CF setup as it's outlined in the CF Forum thread for newbies (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24712), but I'm still having issues.

One of my biggest problems right now is trying to setup the Sony PEG Mass Storage device, so I can transfer files to & from my NX. Of course, I can't find the @#%! driver for this device, and the link that's listed in that thread for the USB drivers (http://dod.hpi.net/trayip/USBSTOR.zip) doesn't work! I'm getting pretty frustrated trying to find these drivers on the net, as XP doesn't like anything I throw at the new hardware wizard.

Basically what I'd like to do is get the clie setup so that I can:

Transfer movie & audio files to it & play them
Transfer my pictures to & from the clie & my computer.

What am I doing wrong? Can anyone please help me out?

The drivers are in your NX70v CDROM, and why don you just Read The F***kin Manual,

everything you need is in there, well at least for using the Data Import.

for other stuff about CF, in the CF forum is all that.

I've checked the NX70V CD Rom, and I can't find the driver. I've gone through it manually, as well as letting Windows itself try and find it, but no luck. I think the only driver on the CD Rom drivei s actually for the Clie Cradle, not the PEG Mass Storage Device itself.

If the device driver is actually on the CD Rom and anyone knows where the hell it is, then please let me know!

I dont remeber, and i dont have my CD here, but it should be installed when you install the Data Export, it installs the Data Import driver too.

Data Import and the CF drivers are NOT on the NX-60/70 cd or manual because they did not come with the NX60/70. Only with the NX-73/80. Please ignore previous uncalled-for "RTFM" response.

For the NX60/70, your best bet is CFMagic. Get it from Palmgear for $16.

With CFMagic, you do not need any hacked apps. The Sony delivered apps, including Audio Player and Voice recorder will work fine on the CF Card. The only thing that does not is MSImport. It will lock up if you try using it without forcing the setting in CFMagic to "Prefer MS". The DataImport program that came on the NX80 does work, so I'm told. Maybe you can find a friendly NX80 owner...

Using MSImport only, you'd have to copy things to your Memory Stick, then transfer them using FileZ to the CompactFlash card. Other than that, get a CF reader for your desktop. They are faster anyway and only about $30 I think.

You still need the Sony updates to run CFMagic but since you've already been through that, you should have them.
