View Full Version : Wordsmith and VG (or not)

Good Evening-

I am a very loyal Wordsmith (WS) user.  Have been for well over a year.  Went to bluenomad.com and downloaded the newest version of WS, 2.2.21 I believe is the nomenclature.  When I opened it up to edit some of my Word documents, the little blue arrow in the bottom right-hand corner of the task bar was greyed out, indicating an inability to collapse the Virtual Graffitti (VG) area.  I owned an NR70v before the TH55 and ran WS v2.15 on it and I was able to collapse the VG area.  Now I cannot?

Is anyone else using WS and experiencing the same issue?

I have emailed bluenomad and they responded by saying that Sony changed the VG for the TH and that it caused a problem that they are working to resolve.  Has anyone heard that Sony changed the VG?

Yes, jhintonh, I have the same problem. I've written to BlueNomad & they said that others have also. I think they're looking into a fix

In the meantime, I think WordSmith is so great that I haven't even installed Docs2Go (which has similar problems, BTW, with the TH55) because from the screenshots, Docs2Go's word processing doesn't look like it is as feature rich as WordSmith.

You might read users problems by going to the WordSmith Yahoo group of the same name.

Just hoping the fix doesn't take too long.

I used to be a WS user and it was far above everything else, but it hasn't had any non-trivial updates in probably 2 years now. In the meantime, it's competitors have caught up. Docs2Go now support fonts nearly as nice and in some ways better than WS and it has supported tables for a long time, which WS still doesn't support.

I found that if you go into the "About" box and then exit you are able to collapse the Grafitti area all you want. Found it by chance.

Good Evening-

Well, just damn!  Sure enough, you are correct.  How strange is that?  Have you sent this information to bluenomad (the software developer) by any chance?  They may be interested to know this.

Good Morning-

I agree that I hope they have a fix soon. I still like WS better than DTG (sorry rldunn).

That is a good fix. By the way I have no problems with DTG on my TH55. both are good programs.

How do you get this to work with CodeDiver? Can you describe the settings for this to work?

Cool! Works for me too (actually, I hadn't even noticed the problem until you mentioned it  ).

On another note, FineType fonts are much fuzzier on my TH55 than on my NR70, and they "rainbow" effect around the edges is much more visible, even with the font set to "Heavy" and "Check if fuzzy" checked. Have others noticed this?

Finally, how long did it take y'all to get your Documents to Go reg. code after registering your Clie? I registered two or three days ago, and I have yet to receive anything, haven't gotten the 25% off at Sony either.

valodya, you might want to check your junk mail folder. I got my emails within an hour, if not minutes, and that's what others have reported too.

Grrr... I was afraid of that. Their web site said it could take up to 72 hours, which seemed rather odd. I wonder what I can do about it? I'll see if I can find some way to contact them. Thanks.
