Has anyone ever tried using the IBM/Hitachi Microdrive?

They are available in 2GB (3K4-2) and 4GB (3K4-4) sizes.

Can the Palm OS5 map that much space?

If it works, it can be an actual MP3 player. :)

whoa!
no offense, but get with the times!!

lots of info on this..

apparently a 4 gig cannot be recognized due to the file structure the clie reads it as only 2 gigs (FAT16 on clie compared to FAT32 on MD)
and some users cannot write to the drive using the clie, so you'll have to figure out a way to put info on it..

and yes you can use it as an mp3 player along with all the other compact flash cards...

I know I know. I only found out about the 4gb microdrive on Monday. So... I plead ignorance.

But still, a 2GB MD sounds better than anything else.

Even if the Clie can't write to it, one can always get a USB CF writer & just pop it in.
