I hate it when people say " well you could get the sony (model number "super small") laptop for bout the same price and it's not as thick"
O M G .... O M G
i think people are missing the point. Bottom line if you get a laptop you still need to get your 2 megapixel and use super glue to attatch it to your computer.... now let's see if that laptop is thinner....

you wanna compare again.. ok... let's compare.... aights you turn your laptop on... and i'll turn on my NZ to see what my planner says... O M G..
you're not done yet...
the NZ isn't suppose to be compared to a laptop... it's a Super Laptop muahahahahahahahahahaha

I agree...
There is no comparison. Laptops aren't as portable. I carry my clie in my purse, but would never dream of throwing my laptop in my purse!
Besides, those little laptops cost a lot more than $800. Closer to $1800.00 Especially for Sony.
Super laptop??
I think so!!
Well it's not a photoshop but here's Vaio with a Camera albeit a digital video camera! let's will that fit in my pocket?
LOL

Every time I am tempted to get an ultraportable instead of a new PDA, I have to remind myself of the big deal breaker: PDAs turn on instantly, laptops need to boot up. (basically what omgitsroy326 said) This issue, coupled with the portability issue, are enough to turn me away from a laptop.
Though it would be nice if I could use the same Windows software on my PDA as I do on my desktop... no need to buy extra software or go through synchronization (and no, PPC doesn't count... it is still quite different).

Well, on stand by my U3 turns on in about 3 seconds, that is not a lot, I agree that ther is no comparison for mobility between laptop/pda, but one day they will merge.... the closest could be the Zaurus that has a flip screen, hey it's an almost fully finctional Linux OS, nice resoulution built in keyboard, way better than any of Sony's, and supports SD and CF cards, way cool....
I heard somewhere some time ago that they were developing mram (magnetic RAM) this means that any computer could be turned off and on like a pda, now that would be cool.....
Just so that you guys know I am very happy with my NX70v, I love the damn thing!!!

Well, let's see. I need all the regular functions of a PDA that turn on pretty quickly. I also need a digital camera. Oh, yea. Not only do I help run the company, alot of the times I also load trucks with a forklift, drive delivery trucks, visit customers while they are plowing fields (yes, they are farmers. I sell farm supplies), and many other weird situations where I need my PDA. Let me see somebody fit a laptop in their pocket while driving a forklift, and whip it out to look something up as quick as I do with my clie. Yes, most people aren't in my situation, but for me, a laptop wouldn't work.

While the U3 looks tempting, I have to agree with jedix. His typical day sounds like one of mine. The NZ in a Grinder Gear Basecamp is the ticket for those of use in a semi harsh environment.

I picked up this saying when I was still using my HP200LX and yes I know I am dating myself.
I also own and still have somewhere? A Tandy 100 laptop and that is really dating myself :-)
A laptop you can carry a palmtop you will carry.

Well, now that I finally got my NZ, I can tell you that it fits in my jeans pocket fine (I work in jeans all the time), and I can even fit a Nokia 3360 cell phone in that same pocket, too. I guess that I have big pockets, but I don't even have a buldge..hey, get your mind out of the gutter!:D
