How long is your clie battery's life?
-------------------------------------------------------------
My SJ30/U is about three long days......
I just tested it.....
*all my games and most of my programs are running by sony 128MB memory stick"
Day One:
I was playing games, Bookworm, GTS Racing and texttwist with the backlight on about 70% for about an hour first day, taking notes with PEGA-KB11 with backlight at 70% for about two hours, then on and off to do daily tasks and stuff about 50 times with backlight on also......
sync with my laptop with backlight off three times a day, morning, noon and evening
Day Two:
same things but playing games about 30 minutes longers, as usual, taking notes for two hours.... and daily tasks....
last but not least, sync with my laptop with backlight off three times a day, morning, noon and evening
Day Three:
reading news on my clie for an hours.....
normal task checking and timetable.....
then for two hours games...... text twist and bookworms.....
then finally i got a battery low message......

about 1 hr reading, 3-4 hrs work, 1 hr game, 1 hr MP3 - the PDA is still usable after a day, but only at about 30% life ...

Heh - the only teacher that restricts my illicit PDA is my precalc teacher - he won't let me use it on tests (nor will he let students use their own calculators) ...

I'm of two minds when it comes to technological use in school. I think that you should have the rudimentary understanding nailed down fairly well first, only then can you use any tech you would likely have available to you in the real world. The basics are to cover those times when technology eithers fails or is unavailable. May take time, but it's doable.

SJ-33
I burn my battery down to a 20% in 4 hours:
7:45 - 8:00 MP3's
8:00 - 10:00 Oxford Concise Dictionary, with part of it in the MS
10:00 - 11:50 PalmReader, all books in the MS
11:50 - 12:00 MP3's
From 8 to 10 I use the Dictionary a lot the SJ is always on.
The backlight is always at 30-40% approx.
12:00 - 14:30 Recharge
14:30 - 15:00 MP3's
15:00 - 17:30 Agendus, Oxford Dictionary, Docs to Go and some
MP3's
17:30 - 18:00 MP3's
18:00 - 20:00 PalmReader
The battery is down to 30%, I don't use the CLIE that much during the afternoon, only when I need it for work.
20:00 - 0:00 Recharge, Sync, new soft ...
0:00 - 0:10 Last Sync and Backup of the day.
During this time the CLIE is always connected to the laptop and recharging.
That's more or less a normal weekday for my SJ.

Hmm.. I haven't used my SJ20 for a while.. but I know that in the last few weeks (and even more so now) of its usefulness, something seemed to be very wrong with its battery...
The battery would read 100% for most of the day. Then, it would go down to 96... and then 92... and then 86 ... and lower and lower really fast. lol.. Yah.. I could say that something wasn't quite working right.. It was reading it as 100% longer than it should have...
And now, I don't use it, but I left it fully charged for a week or two and came back to it.. the battery life was down below 30% or so.. And after a couple minutes of looking around, I got a low battery warning.
I think that this is the effect of charging your Lithium Ion battery every chance you get. The Gameboy Advance SP uses a Lithium Ion battery, and from its manual, it warns that after about 500 charges, the battery will lose its ability to hold a charge. (And apparently from reading through other battery threads on this board, the number of charges goes by the number of times you connect and disconnect external power.. thus, not 500 charges to 100%... you could do a charge that replenishes 1% or less and it would count as a charge cycle apparently...?)
I charged my SJ20 multiple times a day over the period of a year.. So that would definately work out to more than 500 charge cycles.
So yah... now with my TG50, I try to charge it every other day or as little as possible...(but MP3s really hit the battery pretty hard lol) Whereas with my SJ20, I used to stick it in the charger whenever I got the chance.

My SJ33 will run for hours without really taking much out of the battery when I'm using documents to go and similar programs but half an hour of Insaniquarium knocked 50% off it!

School - no one cares. (out of the teachers) They don't know what's a PDA. Never seen one. It seems. Still don't care...
I agree that you have to charge your battery as rarely as possible, and defenetely not everytime you get. (no offence to anyone) I'm surprised about the number of people that don't know this and complain. I charge My NX80V overnight, every night. If you charge yours every night too, then here's a tip. If it's evening and you are not going to take the CLIE anywhere other than your room, then connect it to the charger (cord one) and read/play/listen/do whatever then, without plugging it out. Then just leave overnight. Might do the same in the morning... Not me though...
