I have just bought a wavelinker bluetooth dongle for my pc, in the hope that I would be able to hot-sync my T625C to it wirelessly.
It seems that you can only really exchange business cards and not hotsync as the sony packaging and wave linker documentation says.
Has anyone else been able to hotsync with bluetooth? Any help would be gratefully received!
Thanks.
Luke

This is not correct, I have read a article in Handheld Computing about someone using a bluetooth card to Hotsync and browse the internet. However I dont have a link to the article, I will see what I can find.

Luke Both hotsync and surfing work fine.
Give me more specific info on your system and I can probably help.
Here's what I did...
You install the drivers for both the BT MS and USB dongle (duh), then go to Prefs - Bluetooth (in the Clie) Enter a device name, then go to Trusted Devices and Add Device.
Your Clie should search and find your computer. If it doesn't, then something is not installed correctly and you need to fix it.
Depending on how you set up your USB dongle in your PC, you may be prompted to enter a security key. The key can be anything you want, just make it the same for both devices. After entering the key in the Clie, you will have to enter it in the PC (you may need to click on task bar icon to do that).
After that, the computer should now be shown in the trusted device list on the Clie, and visa-versa.
Next step: Still in Prefs (on the Clie) go to Connection and select New and name a new connection (I call it Blutooth MS).
Connect to: PC
Via: Bluetooth
Device: [tap here to find your PC] trusted device from previous.
Go to Details and set it to 115,200 bps & Automatic Flow Control.
Hit OK & OK and your new connection should be in the list.
Now for the PC side, look in your BT USB dongle's configuration to see what serial device ports it is using, and set hotsync manager to serial mode (you can leave both serial and USB checked) and set the serial port to the port your USB dongle has created.
Launch the Hotsync app on the Clie, change the connection type from Cradle/Cable to the Bluetooth connection you created, and hit the sync icon.
If that doesn't work, then go to your BT USB dongle's configuration and try disabling the Network and Dial Up functions. Some people find this necessary. Depends on your dongle.

Let me know how this goes, and if you want to set up web surfing I can help with that too...

Thankyou for that excellent advice. I had done the majority of it already.
However, I am a little stuck at the part about the serial port of the hotsync manager. When I look at set-up in hot sync, then click on local, I only have COM 1 as an option in the serial port.
My USB dongle port -serial is set to COM 3.
How do I change this to COM 3.
Sorry for being a bit slow..

hmmm, you are suppose to be able to choose between any serial port connection, do yo have the local serial port checked?

I have checked the serial port on the hotsync manager but am not sure where else I can find to check.
It only has one port when I click setup then local (COM 1)
Whenever I click hotsync on the palm it does not work. It keeps saying that the port is in use. I suppose that is because it thinks that I am using COM1 not COM3 which it should be for the bluetooth to work.
Arrrrrrrrhhhhhh

There is no drop-down arrow/menu for the com port selection?
Is there a down arrow to the right of the COM1 setting?

One thing you could do is restart your computer, go to the BIOS of your mobo then check if all your com ports have been enabled. If you can also give me the model of your mobo mabe i can help you out :) Another way is to change your bluetooth dongle to use COM1, this should be in your bluetooth settings menu in the control panel, but i suggest you the first suggestion first.

I have a drop down menu next to the local settings in hotsync but I only have COM 1 there.
Can you just help me with mobo- what is that?

mobo = Motherboard
usually hitting the delete key when your computer first starts up will get you to the BIOS setup, but some OEMs like compaq make this really hard.....

Intel motherboard often use the F2 key instead of Delete.
But it sounds like the Bluetooth adapter is not installed correctly. The BIOS settings for com ports would only affect com-1 & 2. The BT adapter should have installed ports at higher numbers.

It depends on the BIOS manufacturer but, my two Dells and my two Sonys all use the F2 key, so does my brother's custom with the Intel board as GG says.

Hope don't add any confusion but I experienced that you need to set up the HotSync Manager from your PC too. In Local you set up the COM to be the same as your BT chose, I assume yours is COM3. Then you can continue with GeekGod mentioned when hotsyncing.

If I reinstall my hotsync manager will I be able to change my local COM port?
At present local COM is COM1.
I want it to be my BT port which is COM3.
I will have a look in my BIOS but I am not sure how that will help me.
I am really confused now!
Thanks
