Why are there third-party backup programs out there (Backupman, etc.)? I thought the MS Backup prog. that came with the Clie was more than sufficient to backup everything in your RAM. Am I missing something?

The third-party backup programs offer more options...and the one that comes to mind that I use is BackUpMan. It allows scheduled backups, and also allows you to restore individual programs.

You can go to palmgear.com. Most common site I know for Palm software. I use BackupBuddyVFS 2.13 for the reason that it backs up absolutely everything and gives me the option to pick individual files that I don't want to back up. I used to use the MS Backup, but from what I remember, it didn't back up everything...when I hard reset and reloaded the backup, I was still missing a couple of things and I had to redo all the settings again. With BackupBuddy or BackupMan, once you restore, everything is restored w/settings. I could be wrong, but that's what I remember. I keep backup on both MS Backup and BackupBuddy, just in case.
Right now BackUpMan and BackUpBuddy are the best (though I lean BackUpMan). I own the previous 2 and CardBackUp. Always have had issues with CardBackUp...just never does the job:(
