View Full Version : Quicktimes-- no audio

I've attempted to move several Quicktime movies to my Memory Stick via Image Converter, and when I play them with Movie Player, there's no sound. MPEGs are fine, given the very same process.
Is anyone else encountering this problem?

Out of curiosity, when you try using Image Converter to convert them directly to a hard drive instead of a memory stick... does it play sound when you play the mqv file with on your pc with Quicktime?

I've just tried it, and there's still no audio when I play the .mqv file with Quicktime, off my hard disk. Strange.

I've had the same problems when I convert avi files using image convertor. What is the type of file you are converting?

Quicktime movies. I haven't tried converting any AVIs yet, though-- just MPGs and MOVs.

AVIs work fine for me, but I just tried it with my existing TG50 version Image converter on a quicktime video file and it did the same thing. WEIRD. I wonder if it's because I'm using Quicktime Alternative.
Yeah, I just tried the converted file on my TG50 and it works great, just not on my computer (since I'm using QT alternative)
That doesn't sound like good news though. I wonder if the TH55's new Palm audio API is the culprit... that would suck.

I'm experiencing the same thing just with a few MPG's here and there... I looked up the properties of the files and the audio codecs are the same so I am clueless as to what's the problem here.
I hope someone has an answeer soon! I love how the MQV's look nice and take up little space on my 256 PRO card.
Please keep us posted!

I guess the files that come through with no audio just are not gonna work. I'll have to leave em as original MPEG's and just let 'em take up more space... Is that what you guys are doin?

I also have the same problem with no sound, anyone have an answer yet??
You get no sound if you convert a file that has the audio encoded in mp3 format.
You can use a program such as VirtualDub to convert the sound into wav format and then put this onto your Clie with Image Converter

Er...
Have any of you guys noticed that it creates 2 files per each uploaded movie file? It was my first time to load a quicktime file yesterday and I saw 2 files with the same name in different directories.
One is inside \PALM\PROGRAMS\MoviePlayer and the other is in \MXXXXX something. Isn't this a waste of space?
I tried renaming one of the files. Afterwards, MoviePlayer is unable to "see" the movie file. And when I tried to rename the other file to the same different name, MoviePlayer "saw" the file, but it couldn't play it.
Anybody got an explanation for this?
Hope to hear from you guys...

Oh...
I just read that the other file (one being the MQV file), the MAI file, is an information file used to store information such as thumbnails of the movi file...
Thanks anyways...

Your problem is probably a compressed sound format on the original videos. I've converted some of my Divx movies and mpegs and have found that ImageConverter really onlylikes uncompressed audion in a sound file. For most video types(not Quicktime) you can download and use Virtual Dub. For instance, Imae Converter will not convert Divx encoded movies. So I have to run them through VD to re-encode the video and to decompress the audio. If I forget to decompress the audio -> I get no sound.

You might try NXMovieAide. It's a program originally written for the NX to allow you to use any name on the mqv file. It allows the system to read the filename associated with the file so that you don't have to use MQV0001 or whatever.
