View Full Version : JackFlash Problem

I downloaded and installed the new 3.0b12 version of JackFlash this morning. It causes my memory stick to be unreadable. (I came to this realization after running chkdsk, copying/reformatting/copying back, etc.) If I install 3.0b11 back and soft reset, the memory stick comes back. Install b12 and it's toast again. Anyone else seeing this? (If you're going to try, remember to backup everything beforehand.)

Same here. I emailed Brayder with report. I thought I was going crazy! I couldn't even turn my Clie off...then when I tried to restore from backup the backup wasn't there....ok...my first clue. Put memory stick into reader and all was there, then I realized I was only seeing CF and not memory stick. I also installed b11 back and all was ok.

I got a "modified" b12 from their support team just a little while ago that appears to have fixed whatever it was. So far so good.

Gee Josh they like you better. I just got a note saying they are looking into the problem!

Well, I replied back that it appeared to work, so hopefully they'll check their email soon and update their download.

I haven't seen any problems, but then again I'm also using JaclFlash 3.0b11. I didn't know that there was a version 3.0b12. I'll have to remember this in case I get that version.

I guess b12 was released yesterday (maybe today?). I read about it somewhere and decided to give it a try. Hopefully, they'll upload the "modified" version soon so others don't run into this problem. It scared the daylights out of me. I thought my new toy was busted.

I had the same problem with b12. Took me all freaking day to figure out what the problem was because my cards worked fine until I tried to access them with McFile or Clie Files. Once I tried either of those programs I'd get the 'unknown media' error until I did a hard reset. I guess I'll have to go Brayder's site and see if they posted a fix yet, otherwise it's back to b11. :(

There was a vb14 that fixed issue for me. Check their site.

When on Earth would Brayder be able to Access the Files in Flash. NX has been out for more than a year now and I hate to have Silly Welcome and Netfront in my ROM. I'm not buying Jackflash until they support NX series. I wonder how many more betas they need before supporting NX. Jackflash is in Beta 12. Wow I have heard a alpha stage or a beta stage but a Beta12. !!!

anand78, I've been using JackFlash with my NX70 and now my NX80V with great success. There is so much room on the NX80 and JackFlash has been wonderful. I have NO problems at this time and would encourage you to consider this "beta" at the very latest stages. Also, I see good support from Brayder as when I did have a small problem they were responsive. Your "biting off your nose to spite your face" on this issue!

anand78, I think you mean JackSprat, not JackFlash.

I also wonder why JackFlash has been in Beta for so long. Not terribly upsetting as the program works just fine on the NX-80.
The Brayder program anand is probably referring to, JackSprat, doesn't work on the NX-80.

Thanks to some good advice, I removed the b12 version I had and installed b11 - problem solved! I tried to get the newest version (b14) but I guess my upgrades have expired. :(
I really wish Brayder made a version of JackSprat that worked with the NX80. I'd really like to dump the Welcome, WA Clock, and a few other things I never use. I guess I could 'hide' the apps, but it'd be nice to be able to just remove them and pick up the extra space.

No I am not Talking about Jacksprat. Jacksprat is for deleting unused Language files. I guess you guys are missing the point. NX series if the ROM is fully accessible would be the best Clie around. Here is why, Sony came up with updates which sit in RAM wasting space. Imagine Getting rid of the Redundant Audio player / Wecome Screen / Movie Player/ Netfront 3.0 / Camera App. I mean this wull mean more than 4 Mb for NX70/60 owners and more than 15 mb for nx80 owners.
I have stopped using sony updates totaly unless it is totaly necessary.

anand78, what's the use of getting rid the ROM-Audio Player? The only usage I would see is to update it with latest version. But here I have no problem launching from CF.
WECole, b11 is not much different to b10 which I used all the time for the NX80. Don't get what's new in b14 for NX-users.
What make me more thinking is why not JackSafe is usable for the NX(80). This would be something *really* helpful. At least on my NR70 it worked great and as a Backup I don't have to bother about Batterystatus. Everything is there, when enough power is in.

Because it does not support CF . And launching anything from the memory Card is so slow.
I guess Sony Screwed on this very concept, I mean its fine to give us KB's of storage to force us to buy the overpriced MS. But I guess a better aprroach should have been to make the MS as an extension of the RAM.

Actually, JackSprat removes foreign languages and Sony software in ROM, on OS4.1 machines (NR70). Not on NX-80. Updated ROM apps can be moved to ROM with JackFlash, once version number is changed with Filez.

Hm' still don't get it. If you're using ZL then launching everything from the CF seems (for me) no problem at all. What's the 'slow' factor?
VERY interesting in this context is, that ZL (3.x) has had that feature when launching from the CF, a specific app from a dir, it stored somewhere else to launch it. ie. I have had app Version 1.01, replaced the app with Version 1.07 and launched via CF. But app showed 1.01!!! :o

I agree. Jackflash is something you shouldn't mess around it once it works.
