Is there a program out there that will let me scan for free wifi spots in the area or whatever? I hate having to go to prefs, and then Network and then blah blah blah and then scan. It seems very convoluted.

If you do a search you'll find this:

Because Sony doesn't release its proprietary (sp?) wifi library to developers, the only Palm sniffer out there right now call doesn't work with Sony models

That means that until sony releases its wifi info to developers, you're not going to see Clie compatible sniffers.

The other option is to leave the setting to Auto-Connect, and if there IS a free WiFi spot in range, it will connect. This is what I usually do, since it only adds about 5 seconds to establish a connection with preconfigured networks.

Take a look at this thread for apps that would help you avoid having to load Prefs and navigate to the Scan button to test for wifi spots...
