I saw the post in Cliesource news today about the new Serial cables that support Sony's universal adapter. It figures the UX wouldn't be supported.

Is there any other way to connect my UX to my Magellan Sportrak Pro? Maybe some kind of usb to serial cable? Or better yet a Serial to Bluetooth adapter for the Magellan.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
BadRap

10 reads, and not a sinlge reply??? C'mon people... j/k

I just found this...

http://www.store.yahoo.com/micro-plus-store/blpaprad.html

It is a Parallel to Bluetooth adapter. It turns any parallel printer into a wireless bluetooth printer. I am pretty sure they make parallel to serial adapters. So could I use such an adapter to make this a serial to bluetooth adapter?? Does anyone know if this will work??

Sorry, I don't have the answer to your question yet. Just wanted to inform you that I raised exactly the same question to Garmin a couple of days ago. No answer yet, though. I'll keep you posted. I hope they can support us.

Here some responses I received from GPS and cable manufacturers: :(

Sorry no. It is very strange that a high end UX50 does not even have a serial port so it is not possible to connect any GPS via cable.
Sorry but we do not supply any cables for the Garmin 12 and the UX50. This is because it uses a slightly different voltage to the usual Garmin GPS and thus has one more pin on the connector.
We currently cannot deliver any cable or solution satisfying your request, due to technical limitations of the PEG-UX50

I still would like to know, whether a serial-to-USB converter or serial-to-BT converter wouldn't solve the problem. I capitulate only after I have seen that it doesn't work.

Anybody tried it?
