Is anyone using their new TH55 with a Mac? How is it going?
I am particularly worried about the following:
Does CO work with the Palm Desktop software for the Mac ? If I enter a new Todo item into CO does it show up in the desktop?
Does iSync still work with the TH55? My SJ30 currently works fine with iSync to update iCal and Address Book. And syncing of Todo/Memo/Address/Calendar works without using 'Missing Sync' software with the SJ30.
Has anyone run across any other 'gotchas' using a Mac?

Everything seems to be working fine with my PowerMac, Panther, but Missing Sync is required with TH55. You might do a search for similar topic in the past.

Yeah, no problems on an iBook G3/800 running panther. Had to get an update to my missing sync software, though, so make sure you're using the latest version (the one that worked with my old SJ30 didn't work with the TH55). If you never bought it before, you may need to buy it now. I think there's been some change in OS5 or maybe with the hardware that's preventing the computer from recognizing the PDA without the missing sync drivers.
iSync is working just fine, fields in addressbook are staying intact, all that good stuff. I haven't had any duplicate entries in any of the main applications (i've been using the Clie Organizer, btw).
I haven't tried syncing it with palm desktop yet, but if the fields go over fine in iSync I don't see why it wouldn't for PD.
For the record, images for the addressbook entries don't seem to sync to the Mac address book, which is a shame, since they both support that feature. syncing those images may be something apple can implement in the future.
For some reason iCal is filing my new CO datebook entries into "unfiled" (even created that category itself -- i never created it), but that might have something to do with my setup, not the TH55 or the CO software.
Happy syncing.

I just bought missing sync and have successfully synced (I think!) my TH55.
I'd like to sync with address book and iCal but I can't get iSync to recognise my device. Do I need to use Palm Desktop as well in order to get hotsync manager?

Missing sync is not required to get any palm os handheld to sync with a mac. There are free alternatives. Just search these boards.

Hey, iDean, thanks for the offer with iChat but I realised what I was doing wrong and I've now got my datebook entries in iCal and my addresses in address book.
I'd got iSync on the mac but had not yet installed the actual Palm conduit ;)

If you have a Clie you need The Missing Sync -- to add iTunes and iPhoto support plus desktop mounting and wifi syncing. I've been using Profiles in The Missing Sync too: just the basic install profile and a full backup profile.
Just a backgrounder, nickms created a free utility for syncing only (no WiFi, no MS Desktop Mounting). More of that in this thread (http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59837).

I've been running mine on my iBook since day one.
One, The Missing Sync is critical as I use Entourage only.
I tried the stock iApps, but found the whole process annoying.
Two, there is no two. Get The Missing Sync and all will be tended to.

MissingSync, version 4.0 and later, is a really great app. They've written there own USB mass storage driver for memory stick mounting/itunes mounting, seriously improved the process of hotsyncing apps to your palm, and added the mechanisms for wifi sync on the mac. Many users of Missing sync, from what I've read, seem to enthusiasticaly endorse it for Clie/Mac integration. My only concern is that any mac user who just shelled a few hundred for their Clie and probably a grand or two for their Mac, should then be led to believe that they have to fork over an additional $40 if they want there Clie to work with there Mac. PalmOne's hotsync program provides the means to sync any Palm OS handheld with you Mac. Unfortunately, in some cases you just have to add a couple ID numbers to Hotsync for it to recognise your device. But, these are readily available and can be added with TextEdit. Entourage syncing is really just a matter of using Microsoft's Entourage Hotsync conduit which is included at no additional cost when you purchase Office X or later. Microsoft includes an app which will install the conduit for you and deactivate the original palm conduits without the end user having to muck around to much. Card Export II by Softick allows you to mount your memory stick just like in Missingsync. Since iPhoto automatically looks for USB mass storage devices with photos stored on them Card Export also endows your Palm with iPhoto integration and costs only $14.99. My end point is that if you want all the features that Missing Sync offers in one tight package and the technical support that comes as well then go for it but, never let it be said you only have one choice.

thanks for the great reply. I'm a newbie to Mac's so in a few days I'll probably have the confidence to do the necessary editing, BTW what numbers are required for the TH55?
Oh and you're right this is an expensive time: new iBook; new Shuttle in build; new graphics adaptor needed and the iBook just got a RAM upgrade ;)

a quick Q for Mac users:
How do I install Hotsync on the iBook? I inserted the CD but they appear to be all PC apps? Where can I find the Mac install version? Thanks

I use Missing Sync to synchronise the TH55 with M$ Entourage. I then use e2Sync to transfer that information into the iApps which then moves it to my .Mac account to appear on my PowerBook when it's attached to the web. That way, I have my data on my Clie, Entourage, iApps (on iMac and PowerBook) and .Mac. Never afraid of loosing my data as it's all in many places to recover from and backed up to the Internet with the Apple Backup tool every day at 11.00am :-)
I did find if one uses iSync with the Palm then multiple entries occur which are a pain to delete.
Also don't change the amount of data in Calendar prefs of Entourage to sync. Leave it on 'ALL'. If this is minimised to a date range then the sync causes the colours and icons within Clie Organiser to vanish and then reappear weirdly later for some days.

The Mac versions of Palm Desktop and Hotsync can found on PalmOne's website.

I try to use Palm Hotsync(Plam desktop4) and Missing Sync 3.0.9, however, I still can't sync my TH55 with my Mac (OS X 10.3.8). Can u please advise me how to solve this!
Thanks!
