Here is an Idea I hope I get positive feedback on this topic. Basically the idea is to share ideas about how to recover your clie to its original state without a hard reset. And even if someone has to do a hard reset it should be a question of recovering from backup.
And now the ugly part here are some ways which you can get you clie crashed.
The Bad part : 1. Open Filez and in the Palm card choose any prc with ResourceDB flag checked just uncheck it , save it and viola you are in an infinite soft reset cycle.
The Solution : A Hard reset is the only answer that fixed it.
Th Bad Part: If due to any reason your clie crashes and is stuck in an infinite loop but it goes till the preference screen before showing error.
The Solution: Click the memory card icon on the status bar to pull the file manager and delete the offending app. Again a solution without a hard reset.

Power up the Clie while holding the up button. This is a warm reset. You will be a the prefs screen. Go to the buttons tab and set "Filez" to run on one of the app buttons. Press that button to open Filez and you can do any repair work from there. This also worked with MSBackup once. Set MSBackup to run from an app button and launch it after a "Warm" reset and restore your Clie. You have been backing up regularly RIGHT?

I totally don't understand the point of this thread Automation.
Isn't the easiest way to get your Clie back to it's original state just to do a Hard Reset? What am I missing here??

Well, I started this thread because " I screwed my Clie yesterday and it took me the whole day to restore it to its previous state. NX80 is usually very stable as compared to NX60 I have both, but yesterday for the first time I screwed things up. I had a backup from 6 weeks before but I was wondering If other cliesource members had something up their sleeve that they wanted to share.
And regarding hard reset, I have to fish out Serials for my software and enter them. I have to lose my memos from the day and what not.

Only thing I can add, which you just found out the hard way is to use MS backup more often. Like everyday maybe. :)

And how does that help in terms of the category. Try to recover from a backup and all your files will go to unfiled. Regarding Hotsync everyday, well haven't you heard about offending apps in backup folder messing up the clie after you hotsync.

For the offending apps, you just simply remove them from Program Files> Sony Handheld> Username> Backup
