Hello folks,
I have a chance to get a Sony MSPro 256 for a good price. I know that MSPro allows for more memory on one stick than regular MS. But aside from that:
1) Is it true that it would give me faster access on my NX-73 than regular memory stick?
2) And, is it noticeably faster?
3) Any other advantages?
Thanks,
Manny
1-yes
2-yes
3-It wont suddenly erase all your data like other 3rd party MS.

Well, I broke down and got the 256 MSPro. Now, best way make this one my main MS. Do I just copy all the files to the new stick?

Fez,
Any hard evidence for this? I have been using a Lexar MS Pro Duo 512MB in my camera for 3 weeks now, and have had no loss of data. I have heard of a few cases where Sandisk memory sticks were not compatible with certain older Clie devices, but that could be a rumor. Do you have any information or reports on a third party memory stick actually losing data? Any more so than Sony brand?
Best wishes,
Bawko

my cards work, sandisc an lexar
ms pro is a rip too me, u only get like 220 usable
I had a 512 sandisk and one day it suddenly erased all my info. School reports, contacs, reserch. All gone forever. I sold the thing and got an MS pro insted. Nothing has ever happend with it.

Sandisk is actually the manufacturer of Sony Memory Sticks...By the way, I've used at least 5 128MB memory sticks from Lexar, Sandisk and IO Data and have never had a problem with any of them.

mike p,
You like removing your memory stick and flipping tiny switches, eh? :D
I think MSPro is more convenient - if a little bit more costly. Worth it, in my opinion.
Best wishes,

Well, the Sony MS-Pro I got was on a clearance rack at Comp-USA for $69.88. It looks like a return, probably someone who did not have a "Pro" compatible device. Seemed like too good a deal to pass up. I have been doing some unscientific testing of speed loading maps from Mapopolis and it seems a bit faster, but nothing to jump up and down about.
As far as my experience with reliability, with 3 CLIEs (only 2 being used) and a Cybershot camera I have quite a collection of memory sticks. I have Sony 16 meg and 32meg(free with N610), Lexar 128 and 2 Lexar selects 128x2, and my Sony 256pro. I had one of the banks on one of the Lexar selects go bad one time. Lexar replaced the stick and recovered the Vacation pics that were on the stick. Other than that I have had no problems with any of the sticks.

Best wishes,
Bawko As long as you can use MSPro then I think it makes more sense...If I didn't just upgrade my T-665, though, I would have probably gotten some MS Selects...
