Everyone seems to want to customize the software in their clie, but has anyone tried to modify the hardware? I am not referring to paint, stickers, or launcher skins, but more like you would see on http://www.pcmods.com or on http://www.coolcasemods.com . I remember a thread where someone painted an NX70 black, but this is the most extreme I have heard of. Has anyone seen (or done) anything cooler than this?

Tried watercooling but could not break the 10 GHz barrier. Anyone to try with an helium bath ?

Nope, just a bunch of strategically placed Hello Kitty stickers to cover up some of the scratches. That's about as far as I'm willing to go with my trusty '80. Perhaps, after I upgrade (still waiting to see what the NX replacement looks like), I might tinker a bit with it. But, for now I rely on it too heavily to start modding the sucker.

Isn't the Japanese version of NX-70 had 2 colour Black and Silver I remember seeing it in H.K

anyways I mod my Clie to 300Mhz (73) and 400Mhz (80) ....

also I try sticking a HonDuh TYPE-R (ice), Type-S (hit) sticker on my Clie hoping to add 3000000 Mhz and imagine I have the fastest computer on earth but I refuse to face the reality :D

If I were to mod mine the only thing I can think to do would be disable the Capture button unless the device is already on. Fortunately the Hold button works so I don't care enough to bother with this mod.

Wow, a P4 computer on fire? That must have been surprising...I've never heard of anyone's computer catching on fire. Melting, burning, but not on fire. That's wild. As for my NX80, I could only guess a new paint job. I think I saw somewhere someone did that already. Oh, for US NX80's you could mod them by trying to put a generic bluetooth device in it. There's a thread somewhere on here about modding the US NX80's...because the European NX73's have bluetooth, some thought that if you opened the NX80 and find the same spot that the NX73's have them, you could (theoretically) put a generic bluetooth device in and make it work. Someone did try to open their NX80 and broke it...I don't plan on treading on those waters.

While watching The Simpsons I saw Homer put "Speed Holes" in the hood of his car to make it faster. If anyone would like the scematics and blueprints for this mod let me know! :p

I can't remember the URL offhand, but there is a Japanese site out there dedicated to just this subject. Some of the Palms featured are just plain sick (these guys will mod anything that runs the PalmOS) - sort of like the difference between a stock Mitsubishi Lancer, and the Evo VII from 2Fast2Furious... Mind you, the mods these guys are doing are strictly cosmetic (changing LEDs, custom molding clear cases - that type of stuff). The usually include step-by-step instructions, along with pictures, but it's all in Japanese.

Perhaps someone else here can remember the site.

I just got a dremel and now I have to tell myself that there is no way I could do that mod in real life. It would be awesome though simply to take out in the dark like that, as if the screen and capture light weren't bright enough.

Maybe I should just enlarge the picture, and get it printed onto a sticker...

But at least I do plan on cutting into my PC case sometime soon. :D

Does anyone know the address for the japanese site mentioned? I tried to google it but it was impossible with so few details.

what is it that you want?

To be serious, I have thought that it would be nice to have a slot cut into the cast to hold an extra memory stick. I'm not sure that there is room, and it might let dust in, but it would be handy.

I opened up my NX80v once it died, it was good fun to look around! (Although I wanted to fix it and failed)

I was wondering if you could stick the NX80v camera into the NX73v? I'm thinking of getting an NX73v (Loved my old NX80v, but only 73v's on ebay for a good price), and would like to upgrade the camera if possible.

If it uses the same connector as the NX80v camera, it might be doable.
By the looks of it, the NX73v does not have the camera light that the NX80v has, so I'm not sure it the board will hove the correct power header.

Has anyone tried this? Or know if it would work?

I have an NX80 I that I am willing to sell for $350 if you're interested. The screen is in perfect condition (ARM screen protector since day 1) but there are some minor scratches below the keyboard and around the screen from the NX80 rubbing against itself. If you are interested PM me your email.
