Dude, check it. I thought I'd give it a try and see if Bearshare.com has application downloads for free (the same applications that you pay $29.95) and I tried it out and I was able to download "WORD 2000 to DOC" successfully! It's the same application program that you peeps are paying $10 for... that is so cool cause now from the desert I can download the documents for free ! And so can you peeps

Check it, I don't have a PDA yet, but I think these application programs will work out when I do get my PDA, God willing! Try it out for size, homeys... Tell me if it really works out for you. ciao

Since you are new here, I will let you know that us "peeps" here frown upon stealing.

You may use the apps for trial purposes and buy it if you like it.

Howdy, partners! Hey, I think that there must be a place that has free downloads of applications, if not bearshare. The internet is swarming with opportunistic methods.

But, at any rate, cbulock, I understand where you are coming from. Not that I need to justify my situation, but just like Robin Hood, I steal from the rich and give to the poor [here in the desert]. It's no problemo, amigo! I hope other peeps can use their knowledge for good and not evil, just like us, homey !

Well, if ya'll find a better place to dl application programs for free, please let us "merry men" know! (coincidentally, I am reading Robin Hood!) ciao, mon amies!

Look, I don't want to get into a discussion on if stealing software is right or wrong, but ClieSource is not the place for this. You are not stealing from the rich. These programs that only cost $10 or $20 that your are stealing aren't giving these people fancy cars and mansions. It's putting food on there table. Not only that, don't go around saying "just like us, homey" cause not everyone here is out to steal from software devlopers. There are actually quite a few that are regulars here.

I agree with you, cbulock. I'm not sure I like being called a peep anyway.

As to the whole stealing of software thing...my brother is a writer and just gave me the whole spiel on why many writers don't get their due because people (not peeps or homeys) are "stealing" their work by downloading it illegally. These people are also just trying to put food on the table.

These people, meaning the writers, that is.

I think I'm too old to be a "peep".
Probably more of a poop.

And I think I'm more "homely' than a homey.

Could be a self esteem thing.

Before spending the your cash on a Clie you should put the crack pipe down. Some folk 'round these parts don't take too kindly to being refered to as little yellow sugar coated marshmellow Easter candy.

Just a heads up.

This isn't an AOL chatroom. If you want to communicate with adults, you need to speak like one. Sorry, but thats the way it is.

Personally, I love sitting back and watching the fallout from posts like yours, but ...

"Yo, D. Teh homeys and *****es need props, but you be disn the peeps in da hood bro. Thats wacked."

Yo tokenuser, how's it ? Thanks for the advice, I'll take it positively. I hate to sound like a repeating record, and actually am here for the help, not to provide or recieve "bantha fodder" regarding the peeps. The rest is a waste of my time, even though I do live in the desert. SO, would you have a nice place that gives free downloads of programs for the Clie, amigo ? Much ablidged. ;)

Here's a tip. It's called Google. It can be found at http://www.google.com. It's a new technology that allows you to search for things on your own instead of asking other people. You should try it. I'm not for warez, but I guess you seem to be very intent on getting them, so go look for yourself and quit asking here as no one is going to help you.

You might want to follow cbulock's advice and try googling as well, but here are a couple of place to visit. Good mix of freeware, shareware, and commercial software. www.palmgear.com www.handango.com www.eurocool.com
None of these are warez sites. If want want to search for them, you are on your own.

As a developer, I can not condone the illegal use of software. In the shareware market, particularly the PalmOS area, you are not taking money from a $40B Gorilla like Microsoft (their words, not mine), but from smaller developers like myself. With the dot com bubble bust (I was hit by the fallout of that one), many small development shops are struggling to keep income flowing to pay employees.

What I will say is try before you buy. If you like what you see, and use it regularly put the $$$ down to support the author. Palm apps are typically < $20 ... it won't kill you.

I went to school in San Jose State for 7 years and graduate with a Master Degree. The 1st year was to study english as English was not my first language. I had left school for 15 years and now I found out that I might need to go back to school again to study the "new" english...I just simply can't understand the english that was put in this thread...specially by our friend dgiovanni.

By the way, I do agree with Tokenuser...the cost of Palm OS based software is not going to kill our pocket.

I agree with Sindu, if you own the NZ, you do not worry about $20.
On a related note, how do you block posts from a certain person so that they do not show up when you surf the site?

1. Go to a post from the person you want to ignore.
2. Click on the "Profile" button for that user (bottom LHS of the message).
3. Scroll to botom of profile screen.
4. Click on "Add to Ignore List".

Done.

To "undo" - go to the profile button up the top of the page to edit your profile, and click on the "edit ignore list" link. You can also add peeps (sorry people :)) manually via this method (follow instructions on page).

Isn't it just dandy that the Bearshare.com filesharing thing is for free?

They say they have no spyware in it, don't you feel safe after reading that?

It just has an IE plugin, so I guess that it does not count, now does it? It does not have an automatic update service... it does not have to access the internet without your permission... it does not check where you do your online banking, where you have your email account, nothing.

Then why does it have the necesary software plugins for it?

I know about kazaalite. I think you told me about it before. I have not yet looked at it, though. What I hate is that some people come here and advertise BS applications that can potentially screw you. I know I sound kinda naif but I think people should know the truth about this crapware.

Truth is, stick to legal software, rip MP3's from CD's you own, and get your videos from Blockbuster and you stay pretty safe.

Its when you skirt into the grey areas that things start to come unglued.

FWIW - I loved Napster. I enjoyed finding bootlegs tracks of bands whose albumn I generally owned recorded live at some radio station or other. Gator and its ilk came in at the last minute, circling like a flock of vultures, ready to swoop in on the ones that didn't know about the better alternative (gnutella based FREE, spyware free clients). I guess we have AOL to blame :)
