I'm not sure if this has been answered already in this forum, but I wanted to know if Sony is planning on giving us, NR70 users, the option to upgrade to Palm OS 5? I keep on hearing that there will be and that there will not be an upgrade to the new OS. Does anybody know which it is? Was taking a look at the new OS and I love it...wouldn't mind upgrading if Sony is going to offern one.

Another question....would the new upcoming Memory Sticks, the Memory Stick Pro, work with the NR70V or NR70Vs? I'm hearing that it will not. It will only work on newer releases, like the NX70 and the NZ90. Is going to fix this? I hear that the new models would work with the new memory stick with a patch, so I'm thinking why can't it work for the NR70V?

Also, with the upcoming new Clie, the NZ90, would solve all of these issues, but of course that $800 price tag is not pleasant for everybody. These upgrad options would be a more financial option for most people. I wouldn't mind getting the NZ90 Clie with all those new features, 2 mega pixel camera, voice recorder, Palm OS 5, Bluetooth, WI-FI, etc. but that still 16MB is still till low for me. That's the only thing that Sony needs to work on, or am I mistaken, the NZ90 will have more than 16MB? When that happens an upgrade would be a good consideration, also, all the other features I mentioned are a plus. What do you guys think?

For right now, the upgrading seems the way to go, at least for me at the present moment. I just hope the upgrades are an option for the people who have the NR70 series Clie.

Number one the processor in the NR can not be upgraded to OS 5 period ---- Two it has released that the memory stick pros ill only work on the NX and NZ series ---- three 16mb is a limition to the palm OS's -- OS 6 may be different ----

Yes, hotgumby is correct - the NR cannot and never will run OS5...OS 5 requires an ARM processor and the NR has a Dragonball, there will be no upgrading.

He is correct that the Memory Stick Pros will work on the NX and NZ only, however I do not think he is correct about the 16 MB limit on OS5. I believe that everyone thinks this because the first OS5 machines had only 16 MB of memory, but the OS supports more (not sure how much). Garmin has a machine coming out that will have 32 MB of memory - follow the link below and you will see 32 MB of memory running on OS5.

Hi Aaron -- yes the iQue 3600 has 32MB but 16MB is just for the GPS --- Palm OS has only four banks of memory 4mb only (from the developer notes in palm and clie)--- Most of the Memory stick GPS units I have seen for the Clie have extra memory built in the units to dowmload maps just like the iQue.
