Has anyone purchased a Vaja case for the T665c? I am talking about the 725 Classic model in specific.

Does it add a lot of Bulk to the handheld? Do you think it detracts from the form factor?

Also, if I do purchase one, does anyone think I should get the ABS padded protection insert? I will mainly carry it in my pants pocket. Does any one have one? Does it add more bulk compared to the case without the ABS insert?

Thanks anyone for reading and especially answering.

I have the 'off the shelf' Vaja case for my T665, and carry it in my pants pocket.

It does add a bit of bulk- perhaps more so with the snap closure than with the padded cover. The overall fit is good and does not, in my opinion, hurt the slimness of the T665 much.

Now- if I were going to do it over, I'd get the magnetic closure and the 'slimline' cover (no padding) to keep it even slimmer.

On the other hand- for the money, I'd also consider the Sena T665 case with magnetic closure. It is definately a cheaper case (both in price and construction), but it is thinner and you can usually hot sync in the case. (My good travel sync cable does not quite fit the Vaja case :( )

(Here is where several people will add that the E&B case is also a good option. I will not disagree, but the E&B's I have had never quite did anything for me- a personal preference issue!)

I own a custom Vaja case for the 665 with magnets and the extra padded ABS insert. I sometimes carry it in my pants and the case adds no additional bulk other than the pda itself. I originally ordered the 725 Classic with the belt clip, but sent it back as I thought the clip stuck out too much. Also, I hate the button strap and prefer the magnetic closure. The case itself is great looking, but the colors on their web site are not accurate. The cases look 100% better "in real life." Hope this helps.

I had one for my T665 - stock black with belt clip.

Any case is going to add some *bulk* to the unit. I found the Vaja was a great balance - not too much bulk & good protection. It actually made me feel like I had a better grip on the Clie when using it - the leather adds a nice tactile feel and "grip" - it doesn't feel like it could slip out of your hand at any moment! ;)

I still have it. If you are interested, PM me. I have it priced nicely and it's immaculate (and leather guarded as well).

The E&B slipper case I have for my T665 is very nice, it allows it to hotsync in the cradle with the case on. Do the Vaja cases have this functionality?

I actually had the Vaja case for my T615 and when I went to the T665 I customized it so I could access the hold button on the side. It is chocolate brown with the magnetic closure. It looks great, it well made, and adds little bulk. Highly recommended!

Thank you VERY much everyone for your opinons.

Last thing, the people who say it adds almost no bulk, do you have the padding?

Also, does anyone think you NEED the padding?

I have a magnetic closure Sena case (syncs in cradle) that I use at home and a snap Vaja case (with credit cards and bills) that I use out of the house. Vaja doesn't sync in cradle. I just switch cases on the way in or out.

The Sena top is actually more padded (with mirror in) than the Vaja "padded" top. With T665C in case, I just measured Sena case front to back at the edge at the thickest part (in the middle where the flap is stitched to the back) and it's 7/8 inch thick with the Clie in there, exactly the same as my Vaja with nothing but the Clie in the case. Am not counting snaps or belt clip protrusions.

Toward the bottom, where there is no second layer of leather on the Sena, the Sena is 1/16th of an inch thinner.

Sena case is fine for home, thin, handy, but the color has already worn off the edges -- which basically are painted instead of dyed-through -- after three months; the magnets have worn through (tip on Cliesource is to tape over them to prevent scratching). . . . Belt clip is questionably secure; it has fallen off the clip the few times I've used it. I think the Sena is a fine case for the price but there is a definite quality difference between it and the Sena in terms of stitching, edges, construction etc.

The feeling of "bulk" that the Vaja adds is due to the rigid back of the case, which adds much more protection. I actually expected the Vaja to be bulkier than it was. . . .I dropped my Clie at the store a few weeks ago (a 4-foot drop) and it landed on the corner of the Vaja case -- it would have landed right on the case and dented it, had it been in the Sena (or in the Bellagio, a snap case I also have, adds a LOT more bulk, but also doesn't protect corners).

Vaja has a rigid back and dyed-through hard seams around the case (not to mention the leather on the corners). Sena is very comfortable for e-book reading because it doesn't have ridges. But again, it also doesn't have that protection.

I ordered an EB case because I'd used one forever on my IIIc and loved it. But I returned the T665C EB case. To me, it didn't have the quality of the older case I had, nor the Sena. Its top is quite thin and that concerned me -- its top is comparable to the Sony flip cover that comes with the Clie.

The snap on the Vaja is very easy to use and very low profile. It doesn't protrude much at all. I have the belt-clip version and the belt-clip protrusion is smaller than the Sena belt clip protrusion; the Vaja belt-clip button is metal; Sena's is plastic. Unlike the Sena, the Vaja will NOT come off the clip unless you rotate it 90 degrees and then unshap it.

I like having a no-snap case at home because I found I often failed to snap the Bellagio (the first case I bought). . . . and I like not having the bulk of the cards and money in it.

This is my first Vaja, and from now on, Vaja is going to be the FIRST (and possibly only) case I buy, not the third <g>.

I wouldn't get one without that padding... The bulk is minimal, and I guess I just don't see the point of getting a case that doesn't have some sort of protection for a head-on screen impact. I also have dropped mine in the Vaja, never a scratch or ding anywhere on my Clie.

So, to answer your question a bit more directly ;) Yes - I have the padded version, and no, it does not add any noticeable thickness to the unit.

To Anita - :D:D:D The Vaja is ALWAYS the first thing I get for a new PDA. Well, that and a Brando screen protector. I bought my last one from a retailer (BestBuy) and I was almost afraid to use it much or leave the house with it until those two items arrived. Thank GOD Vaja ships same-day. Every case I've ordered from them (and it's been 4 now) has been literally 48 hrs (or less) from the moment I authorized the charge on their website to sitting on my doorstep. Very impressive.

InfoPalm, if you're interested, I could snap a couple pics of my Vaja (without the 665 of course, I traded it in) and email them to you if you like. It's the standard black aniline leather snap case with UltraClip. Just let me know.

Wow, I didn't excpect so many suggestions and help. Thanks a lot everyone.

Monkeygr@ss, if it isn't any trouble, seeing a pic might help. If you could maybe take a picture of the cover from a side angle, I'd be able to see how much bulk the padding adds.

Again, only if you have the time, and thanks.

Monkeygrass -- I know what you mean -- I had a case and screen protectors in hand BEFORE my Clie arrived <g>.

I have a custom Vaja case for my 665C and I got the padding (which doesn't seem bulky to me) and the snap closure. The snap closure adds a little extra thickness on the back if you have the PDA flat on a desk, but I am happy with the snap closure because it protects the sync connector on the bottom edge fo the Clie and it also keeps the case from coming open by accident. I think I'd like the look and form factor of the magnetic cover better, but opted for what I thought might be a little more protection.

I've had my case for several months (carry it in my purse most of the time) and it looks brand new. I got the Viola floater case with matching lining. Pricey, but VERY nice.

Let me see what I can come up with this weekend. I have a gig tonite, and I'm recently engaged (wedding planning this weekend), but I should be able to find 15 minutes to snap a pic and upload it to my website for you!

I'm re-post and PM you when I do it.

Hey, congrats!

Don't push yourself...only do it if you have the spare time.
