MQV converter!!!

I've been trying to find a software that will convert MQV into ANYTHING for ages, I wouldn't mind converting MQV to some sleightly less unpopular type, then from that to another and finally ending up with AVI, MPEG, of mpg or w/e as long as i can get it to work =( does anyone know of a software that will convert mqv? cuz most people don't have the latest quicktime, and nothing else edits MQV files

The only program that will do what you need that I know of is Apple Quicktime Pro. ($29)

I think TMPGEnc might work, but not sure about that one though.

ncoday - Bink & Smacker can also convert it, and best of all it is free. I think B&S chokes on .MOV files with MP3 audio or something though... I don't quite remember.


Grab a copy of Bink & Smacker's RAD Video Tools. Rename the file to .MOV, and then you should be able to convert it into .AVI. Or if you don't want to rename, just force Bink & Smacker to open the .MQV (type the name into the file name area), and it will autodetect the type.

If you don't know where to get this, or how to use it, pages 16 - 19 of my Image Converter tutorial (check sig) have a screen-capture of what to do. Just select the renamed .MQV, and convert to .AVI. But don't follow my tutorial so closely as to convert it back into .MQV, since that would defeat the purpose of doing this :D

Or you can do what I do, if you have a digital camcorder and a tv out on your PC, play the movie in full screen while recording it onto your cam. Then upload the movie from your cam onto your PC, into any format you select, Mpeg, Avi, Wmv...
