Hi,

Can the Clie video recorder put movies and TiVO shows on my memory stick (If i decode my movies to the hard drive of the PC first). I was hoping to just hook the tivo up to it and let it play and record.

I am trying to consider how this gadget would compare with an external MPEG encoder like DazzleOh or something, with which I could also watch tv shows on a laptop. Or maybe an ATI All in Wonder.
Of course the Clie recorder would be more convenient than the video card because it would save a few steps transferring to the Clie.

I've been using one for a while to record TV and DVDs. The unit has standard analog inputs (RCA and S-Video), so hooking up to a TiVo should work fine. I have two cmplaints about the VR100:

1) The audio records too low. It's difficult to hear movies when I watch them on a plane.

2) The timer, which is set using a software app on your CLIE, is limited to 2 hours. You can record longer, but to do so you have to manually hit the record and stop buttons.

Otherwise, it works as advertised and the quality of the video, especially in High mode, is great.

I also have a TV/MPEG conveter card in one of the PCI slots on my PC, but it was a pain to record, "convert to CLIE" and then transfer to MemoryStick.

I wish Sony would do an upgrade to improve the audio levels (and maybe reduce the price), but otherwise I recommend.
