though ive gotten hold of the TH55's Netfront 3.1 from a friend, i wasn't able to test it on my NX80V because i had it sent in for repairs (faulty graffiti)

now, that ive gotten it back - PERFECT!!! is all i can say...

using the new Netfront, i can now access Microsoft Exchange's Webmail (Outlook Web)... i can also access MSN Hotmail... and i can also now access previously unaccessible internet banking sites!!!

what's more - no more "page too large errors"

hhhmmm... now that i have a good browser with me - do i have anymore need for my Zaurus SL-c750?

it is just a PITY that SONY is SO GREEDY that they wouldnt release this version to other CLIE owners.... and even stop all efforts to distribute the application...

well... sony is still enjoying its position in the top, but ill soon be awaiting its downfall... hehehehe... ;)

Question - since it's a relatively ginormous program, is it really worth having it in RAM - is it really that good? I have a copy of WebPro 3 I've managed to jam into flash with JackFlash on my NX80V, and that seems to have an advantage for me over NetFront 3.0 in that I'm not all the time switching from "scroll" to "input" and back again.

The downside with WebPro is there's a million little cach files or something all over the main memory. NetFront has only one, if I remember correctly.

NetFront can't go into flash I believe, according to the rules of JackFlash. I'm scared to death of JackSprat, frankly, but could probably be talked out of that by someone who'd used it succesfully on an NX80V.

Any thoughts, or is this just too out in left field?

tks

I wouldn't mind trying it, too, again, only if someone doesn't mind. Either PM me or email me. Whichever is easier for you.

Thanks.

how did you get NF3.1 working in flash?
is it something about using filez to rename the revision number?
i read it somewhere, but could someone clarify?

They use the JackFlash beta for OS5. Gives us a TON more room on a NX80V.

but doesn't netfront already exist in the ROM of NX80 devices?
how did you bypass that?

I did obtain a 3.1 from an UX or so I was told, but it fook'd my NX73.

The TH version is different? Or doesn't it work on a 73?

Why the **** can't I get it from the Netfront website? Is it obtainable elsewhere?

you dont need to bypass it

the OS looks for the app with the latest version number - you could have multiple netfronts in ram - 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and 3.1; and youd still have 3.1 running

To anitanium: you just change the name of the file to netfront 31 instead of 3.
To clie_wannabe: upload your picture into the member gallery and then use the [iimg]url[/img] notation and there is no need to wait.

BTW, I meant you could do this http://www.cliesource.com/gallery/data/506/4309HRCapt20040229132634.jpg

I did that by putting "http://www.cliesource.com/gallery/data/506/4309HRCapt20040229132634.jpg"

without the quotes.

Cliewannabe,
Having trouble uploading to my NX80. Could you please give me step by step instructions on how to upload. Do I need to delete Netfront 3.0 first? Already had one hard reset...
Thanks for your help!

meir87
02-28-2004, 11:12 PM
You can't delete NF 3.0. To install simply change the name from netfront3.prc to netfront31.prc then copy it onto your MS. Then using filez, change the version id from 1 to 2. After that simply copy it into your RAM and your free to use it or put it in to flash using JF.

mshaf

when i copy it onto the ms where should i put the file. Also, where in RA should I copy it to. Thanks for the help meir87!

mshaf
02-28-2004, 11:21 PM
RA should have been RAM in previous post

meir87
02-28-2004, 11:24 PM
Doesn't matter where on the ms you put it as long as you know where it is so that you can copy it into RAM (I would recomend the root directory for simplicity). As far as where to copy in to RAM I'm afraid I don't understand your question as there are no folders in RAM. Just select the file on the ms using filez and hit copy and select "to palmcard".

nofx

anybody what to share the love?

meir87
02-29-2004, 12:06 AM
Thats only necessary if you want to put it into flash. Select the file, hit details, and under version id just erase the 1 and write in a 2.

mshaf
02-29-2004, 12:11 AM
When I try to copy or move the file it gives me an error which says: an error has prevented the file from being moved

meir87
02-29-2004, 12:14 AM
Is it already on your MS and u can't move 2 RAM? If yes, try moving with a different file manager (clie files).

mshaf, somebody sent it to you........could you send it to me???
