I keep my CLIE in my purse without its case (the case it just too big), and so it gets those small tiny scratches and lead on it. i got a big eraser to get rid of the pencil, but is there anything to get rid of or help the scratches? any other cleaning tips would be handy. thanks!

i'd say put it somewhere where it WONT get scratches like that...
i learned that the hard way...
fortunately, the screen is always protected
maybe try putting it into a pocket where nothing else is there
that is what i do now

I agree, you would do best with a low tech solution.
If you don't have a dedicated pocket, some GWP cosmetic cases are just the right size and might even match your purse.
In the past I've even used the black cloth bag that came with a pair of ski-goggles.
I haven't found a case that I like. Not a big fan. Why buy something that is engineered to be compact and sleek, just to bulk it up with a case?
I've gotten a few scratches on mine... but have decided to live with them. There's a certain emotional freedom knowing that the first scratch is in it... the ones that come later don't hurt as much.
So, I guess if you really want emotional freedom, just take some sandpaper to the case... scratches that happen afterward just won't seem as noticable.

That's why I hate the case- I just also hate those small tiny scatches that you can't hardy see but give it a dirty look. I like the glasses case idea, though. Small (as in portable) protection.

Try keeping your keys, change, and other metal objects in another area. Levenger.com has a few key chain cases in their Personal Accessories dept.
I keep mine in a quart sized freezer bag when it rains. That would help.

I'm a guy (so no purse problem), but a friend of mine sells jewelry and puts each of her pieces in a very soft velvety/felt bag with a little drawstring. They come in various sizes, but I don't know where she gets them. They're dirt cheap ($1 or less) and would seem to be perfect for your purposes. Maybe ask a jewelry store if they know?
Good luck.
