Has anyone made this particular upgrade?
With dropping NX80V prices it looks mighty tempting.
What improvements did you particularly like?
Any cons?

I have a NX80 on order (due here Monday). Upgrading from NR70V, which I love. Features of NX80 that I like 1) App buttons available in tablet mode. 3) 32MB RAM vs 16MB. 4) 1.3MP camera vs. NR camera. 5) Support for storage cards in excess of 128MB both MS and CF. 6) Option to go wireless via wifi card, which comes with the one I ordered.
Features of NX80 that concern me. 1) Battery Life (my NR gets great battery life) 2) Finding alternative to many of the hacks I rely on with my NR. 3) Thickness and weight (probably not a big deal) 4) I always worry about a bad pixel problem when buying a new PDA sight unseen.
I was lucky and got the CDW bundle deal, which was too good to pass up. I really wasn't planning on giving up my NR this soon.
PS: I played with both the new TH and the NX80 yesterday at Circuit City. I liked the new PIM apps with the TH, the builtin wifi and the slim profile, but most other areas, I prefered the NX80, for the money. The NX80's screen was much brighter and felt more solid. I'd be afraid the TH screen cover would break off. Obviously couldn't tell much about battery life there in the store.

I have gone from an NR70 -> NR70V -> NX80V. This is a big leap in performance. The screen is much better, and battery life is as good or better. It operates at a faster speed. Has more memory availlable, using JackFlash. I like that the 4 hard buttons turn the unit on and start the program assigned to them. The only con is that it is a little thicker in size. With OKey(free) installed it also turns off when the cover is closed, a nice feature.

Be sure to post here when you get your new baby.
I too love my NR70, but there's more & more new software not compatible.
I'm not that thrilled with the NR70 batttery life and I've heard a spectrum of battery life stories on the NX.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

I'll keep you posted. At the moment, I'm even debating just putting it on Ebay and keeping my NR, but you're right more and more software seems to be leaving OS4 behind. I also have an Ipaq 2215 (definitely not as reliable as my NR and battery life on the Ipaq really sucks 4-5 hours at the most).
I've also seen a wide range of battery life reports on the NX80, all the way from great to terrible, I guess it depend what your benchmark is.

You will see a big improvement in speed with the NX80 vs NR70. I KNOW you'll be happy once you get the apps you like installed and become more familiar with the small differences. I went from NX70V to NX80V and love it (although difference isn't as big as with you). My kids have the NR70 so I know how it works. You'll be thrilled with your new friend....

Noodles... I did this exact upgrade a couple weeks ago when compusa was blowing the NX80V' out for $299. I have been using a NR70 for the last two years. Has worked good but with the price of the NX80 I felt like I had to upgrade. Now I rock both the NR and the NX. I like the processing speed, PalmOS5, the Camera, and definitely the wifi slot and Voice recording as well as the lit keyboard. I am still getting used to the change in graffiti from the NR, but that will come with time. Anyway, I dont think you can go wrong with upgrading, and I think you will be stoked with all the new goodies. Let us know what you decide to do. Peace out

streetplayer....why don't you put grafitti 1 back on? I was frustrated by the grafitti 2 on NX80 so I switched it...with instructions on this board. I will try to find it if you can't come up with directions and files through search.

Here's a link to the thread which will help change grafitti 2 to grafitti 1.

I upgraded from a NX-60 to a NX-73v and I am glad i made that change, the 73 and 80 are in my opinion, the best PDAs made right now considering the price.

I am typing to you on newly aquired nx80 . I had a nr70 and this blows the doors off it. The wan card is amazing with netfront. With the dropping nx80 prices, iwould definately take the plunge.
