Since I just got my NX80, I gave my NX70 to my husband...not really the CLIE/PDA lover I am. He mainly wants to use it for the MP3 ability. It's on a trial basis...he is deciding whether to keep the NX70 or get an iPod. (Personally, I think the NX70 would be perfect for him. But that is just the CLIE-a-holic in me.)
Anyway...on to the story. He took it to college with him. That night when he came home, he told me I am definitely the cool one, and he bows to my coolness:D . He said when he brought it out to listen to some tunes, people were drawn to it. And with every little thing they found out about it, they ohhhhhhhhhhed and ahhhhhhhhhhhed. So, I told him I was a little reluctant to let him take it because I've heard the CLIE is a chick magnet. He said what I heard is true.
So, my old NX70 has a new life for the time being.

I had the most interesting conversation on the subway the other day. I was playing Monopoly on my N760C (hardly a head turner) and a guy sitting across from me came over and started talking to me about it. He had a m505 (I think, might have been an m515) and he said he was bored of it and just used it as a PIM so I started showing him ZLauncher in high res (320x320 anyway) and some of the games I have installed. He was really blown away by the ability to play mp3s. I rarely use my 760C to play mp3s but I always keep a few mp3s on my Memory Stick and my remote in my bag in case I get an opportunity to show off. :)
After a few minutes he started to talk about getting a Clie so I told him to check out this site and then beamed him a copy of Vexed (goodbye productivity).
Sony should list "Ice Breaker" as a Clie feature.
PS- I dig Stinky Pete. That is one cute son of a gun.

I was at the dentist's today, and while I was waiting in the chair, I pulled out my Sl-10 and read the news on Avantgo, when he came back he was impressed that I could read the news on it and was asking me all kinds of questions about it.......he seemed impressed, I don't think he is in to tech stuff, said he couldn't figure out how to use his computer.......lol

Actually I'm surrounded by PDA's. Probably a 50% of the school uses them with the Plimco Oxford Chines-English dictionary. And the when I go to work a lot of the co-workers uses them.
The main problem is that a 80-90% of the users they just know how to use the normal included apps. and the dictionary. Just a few power users.

I dont take out my clie often just because people look at it and go ooooh, and they all want to touch it, and I am always reluctant to have everyone touch my clie. Only me and people I give permission to ever touch it. But I mean, I'm scared to take it out even when I need to use it just simply becuase it makes people envious and either show jealously towards me, and often have thoughts of stealing it. High school sucks, kids are so immature lol

My NX80V ALWAYS drops mouths!
I think a lot of us here (def me included) get so used to having these amazing machines that we forget just how advanced and cutting edge they really are. The general, non Clie fanatic public just never gets exposed on a daily basis to these cutting-edge machines!

What? You mean not everyone owns a clie?
Everyone bothers me about my UX50. Its caused me to change schools, deal with complete morons, People who ask me if I have Mario on my Game boy, or girl asking me if I have "Rooni kensi-san" or whatever on my "DVDtingajig" I love my UX50 but I hate everyone who don't seem to stupid to do anything involving electronics.

I was writing an assignment down and the teacher told me to put away my game boy and I told him that it was a PDA and then everyone started to talk in a loud wisper. 'Ohhh, dose he have Mario on that?' and I got sent to the principal for 'disturbing the class'. I got suspended and my mom and dad switched my schools because they thought that the school was full of morons.

Up until last week I had a T415. I always get a lot of oooohs and aaaahs when i use it in front of my clients. They are always amazed how i work spreadsheets (Docs to go), or have diagrams and blueprints on it (scanned in jpg format). it might only have 33 mhz, and a b&w screen, but as business user to another, it gets the job done.
anniebluesky: it's true, my clie is a chick magnet, even after it is 2 years old. Back in business school, every girl wanted to touch it or play with it (Same thing with my sony ericsson phone)...
Now I own a TH55, I wonder what kind of comments i'll get. :-D

Wow, how old are you? But you gotta admit that it does look like a gameboy, and many adults suck at electronics

I don't know how old are you, but finishing high school I learned something the hard way.
If the teacher ask you something, do it even if it's wrong. You can speak with him after class, you gotta remember that teacher are also persons and is no easy to put some order in class.
Sometimes I teach here something around 100 students in one class, if I ask somebody to turn of the PDA or the Laptop I expect them to listen to me, if the don't, well, there's always a door. I expect it cause if you can't order somebody to stop doing something that's breaking the class concentration you can't teach. If they have a problem they can always reach me after class or in the bar after class. I will listen and if they give me a good explanation about what they were doing and why they should do it, the is OK they are allowed in the next class.
I'm 14 and the fact is nobody believed me about it. They still all thought it was a game boy after I tried to explain it to them. If i remember correctly my principal said "If it sounds like a gameboy, looks like a gameboy and act like a gameboy it must be a gameboy." It wasnt bothering anyone untill he started to tell me to put it away.

Then your parents took the right decision. I understand you, there's some teachers here that can't believe I allow laptops in class. Well they can't do a thing with it. They're gonna learn one way ore another. And it's gonna be probably the hard one. If they can't adopt new ways of teaching they're not gonna be there in a few years.:(

The problem is not if we care of not, it is if other care.
I remember been one of the first ones to take a cellphone to class, to take a MD, a laptop, a PDA, etc. I never cared, but still there's other persons that looking at me just saw somebody who was showing off. Is not true, it only was my way. If I get a new toy and really find a use for it, I'm gonna use it, I don't care what others say or think but it can be dangerous sometimes.

I've been getting the oohs and aws especially after installing ZLauncher with some personalized backrounds, and a Matrix screensaver.
It's not going to last long though :( . I already had a discussion with a friend over drinks, in which she shot down almost every feature I have with her cell phone. The conversation was like this:
Me: "It's a calendar and address book."
She: "So's my cell phone."
Me: "It has a camera."
She: "So does my cell phone."
Me: "1.3 Megapixels, though."
She: "Me too"
Me: "With video!"
She: "Yup."
Me: "Internet!!"
She: "Got it"
Me: A dictionary!!!"
She: "Me too."
Me: "MP3's?"
She: "Check."
In the end, I was down to more memory, bigger screen and keyboard... And she was like, "So, can you order a pizza on that huge thing?" Grrr...

I agree with you halo, that's what technology is for. I always end up investing in the gadget that allows me to get the job done. And sometimes doing that is what draws attention to you.
I remember a certain teacher who said "any kind of calculator is allowed". By the 2nd month, I was finishing my tests 45 mins before everyone else (showing all my work, and following all the rules required). and then, due to some jacka** complaining about "not being fair" i was told i couldn't use it on the final, as i was walking in. The principal sided with the mystery student, and said it wasn't fair i could finish tests so fast. The teacher was siding with me because i was showing all the work, and i was correct in quoting him "all calculators were allowed"
I still finished the test 20 mins before everyone, and aced the course, but it helped me realize that as much as technology can help you do stuff more efficiently, it can cause envy in peers. So I agree with you Halo, it can be dangerous.
Fez: you're going to end up bumping with people like your old teacher and your old principal all the time. People who are still not embracing the new technologies. Back in when i finished High School, there were few teachers who would allow graphing calculators (those are the norm, nowadays i believe), most only wanted regular scientific calculators. College for me was a great time because all the tech stuff was actually accepted (it was engineering), Fast forward to when i started business school, and there were teachers who only new about +, -, x, / calculators and financial ones (which are practically out of production since the new ones can do just about everything).
I think the problem with highschool and business school was that most people don't use the "latest" technology. If you're a teacher and all your students come with a simple calculator, you think that's still "normal". Thus when a students comes with a calculator with the power to do everything in 3 seconds, it raises concerns over if the student is abusing the policy to use a calculator.
I hope your new school is more accepting of technology.
