Hi,
Am very new to all this, but have a nokia 8910 and a T625C and was hoping to access the web via my clie.

I've read the thread about how to set up the connection, but saw no mention of which ISP I could use in the uk, does it have to be a special one for PDA's or can I use my aol dial up account for my PC?

If not, who provides the dial up service, my network provider (Orange), or an independant company?

Anyone out there already do this in the UK? Sorry if this has been
gone over before!

Cheers!

Help is here.

What you need is to find an ISP that lets you connect at 9600 bps (I think that's the data transfer rate of your phone, 14400 if you're lucky). Very few ISP will allow you connect at such low speed these days (their hardware DO support low speed, but made to disallow low speed connection).

So, check with AOL and see if they let you connect at 9600 or 14400 bps. There's nothing special about using a Clie or mobile to connect to the Internet from an ISP's point of view, it's only data via telephone systems. It's the speed you need to concern about.

I used to live in UK (was there for 11 years), and been able to do it, so I know.

Good luck.

If it's any help my Lineone account allows me to connect at 9600 through my Ericsson T39.

I don't know if your phone supports it, but you may also want to look into using the HSCD feature of the mobile (28.8K or more) - sorry I haven't got the settings for Nokia 8910.
