I just tried using my UX50 as an MP3 player, the last of all options I felt might allow me to retrieve some value out of this extremely expensive portable headache. I mean, we are just talking about playing music, right? I can't believe how screwed up this is! And the fact that I can't even listen to my own MP3 files from CD's I purchased legally because I do not have the new type of Memory Stick, which no doubt cost a premium. That's the last straw. Sony needs to show it's customers a little respect. I'd like to know how many others of you are out there. Let's see what we can do extract a little appreciation out of these jerks.

Hmmm, I've never had a problem transferring music.

Just use MS Import--stay away from Sony Soundstage.
Could it be the software you are using for ripping?

I thinking that the problem you're having with MP3s is called a DUE (Dreaded User Error). :)

The UX is 100% compatible with the older Memory Sticks.

All you have to do is use DataImport to copy MP3s to the proper directory on your MS... /Palm/Programs/MSAudio

What other problems are you having with your UX?

EDIT: as far as I know, Sony's music player still doesn't like VBR (variable bit rate) MP3s, so you could either re-encode or use a 3rd party player like Pocket Tunes or AeroPlayer, both of which are far superior.
