I'm a big fan of World Alarm Clock on my NX-80V but my TH doesn't seem to have it. I don't think it's in the installation CD.

Really!? One more thing Sony 'forgot' to add I guess.

Try WorldMate. It is much better.

For a world clock, I use CityTime for years. Simply the best world clock IMO.

For an alarm, I have used BigClock for 3 years. REALLY loud on my NX80V & gets me up every morn!

Good Morning-

Good tip/reminder on BigClock. I had forgotten about that app when the WA Clock came along on my NR. I searched PalmGear for half an hour last night looking for an alarm clock replacement.

Thanks :).

Man, that is so lame. No in-line audio remote, no Universal Remote w/CIr, and now no World Alarm clock? Just how much money are they saving by leaving this feature out? I can understand omitting the first two in the name of cost-cutting - after all they require certain hardware modifications - but WA Clock has been a staple since the T-series, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm starting to get a bit worried about which features Sony is going to convienently leave out of the NX replacement.

I KNOW acraniotes! It costs them NOTHING to add it. Sony wrote it, Sony owns it so why not just toss something Clie users have been using for ages into the TH55? Just throw it in the ROM if they were so afraid of it taking up too much precious RAM..but it can't be that big a program can it?

I just copied it (along with ClieMemo & Video Recorder) over from my NX70 and all is good.....

Cheers, Rich

Yes, BeamPRO will do it. I was using Filez which somehow didn't work.

LeggNet - Good to know that it can be done. Still, what was the point of dropping it in the first place? That's what I want to know.

I tried to beam it from my SJ22 and it crashed my Clie. I guess I can try again but I'm afraid to. How did you copy it?

I didn't even notice it was gone since I almost never use it, and I had moved it from RAM to the MS right after getting my TG50. I still have it on my MS, so it's still there.
I still have an old copy of CityTime (v. 2.12H) left over from my Handspring Prism too. I just looked and the current version is 5.0.

I too never use it. I wouldn't shed any tears if Sony doesn't bring it back. I think I used it once.

I just installed it on my TH55 from my NX70 CD and it works fine. I even added all the alarm sounds I had before from the last 5 Clie's.

Just get copy of it and load it on there.

:D

hmmm, I guess it'd be on my SJ22 CD too then...

wierd that when I beamed it, it crashed the TH55.

If it crashed it was because it was made for the 320x320 resolution not High Res.

Well I copied it from my NX70 and it works like a charm. I do find it strange that Sony would not offer it on the CD. Doesn't really make any business sense, since the more the merrier. Just like RMC, which it no longer includes.

I don't suppose anyone wants to provide this official SONY file to other official Clié owners?

If you want security and privacy, feel free to PM me with your offers, I'd really like to get this back on my TH55. I really grew to rely on it with my SJ22.

Mine runs 320X320 (can't collapse VG) but it doesn't crash.

I think it has something to do with the OS 4 version crashing it because I just tried using the SJ33 version and it crashed when I tried to set an alarm.

WA Clock from T665C worked fine.

Hmm then I don't know, maybe with the particular version? The SJ33 uses 1.02

My bad, World Mate version 8.1.2. Sorry about that Maverik. I will test and post torommow.

That's exactly what the one from my SJ22 did. The text was a little funky, but I could handle it, but as soon as I went to set an alarm it crashed.

The version for the NX80 works fine though. :D

Peloquin - I tried to PM you but don't have access for some reason (< 100 posts? dunno). If you could PM or e-mail me I'd appreciate it.

Anyone know if the version from the NR70v CD will work? Maybe I'll dig the CD out of storage and try it since I haven't seen the NX version posted anywhere.

Good Evening-

Version from the NR70v does not work. Tried it...no go. Is this software (taken from an NX) share-able? Or does it violate ClieSource's and Sony's policies regarding application transfers? I would like to ask someone on this thread to email a copy of the software but I do not want to ask if it is "illegal".

I'm with JT on this one too...if it is shareable, someone please PM to arrange sending it to me.

Version 1.12 works just fine - I copied FileZ on to MemoryStick, put the MS into NX-73V, copied the WAClock files from ROM on to the MS (1 file was copyprotected, so McFile wouldn't touch it - hence FileZ); moved the MS back to TH-55; ran WA Clock and it was copied into RAM and my CLIE category when it started up!

Does anyone know if GeekSounds - a collection of alarm sounds, including several tunes, works with TH-55? I would test it, but I've used up my fritter-factor time for a while - messing around with the fix needed to install CO onto a Win98 system, and with restoring hotsync access of my SJ-30 that the TH-55 install blew away.

Question for Sony - why did you leave this handy app out (it's only 136K), even off the CD - when you have put such useless info in ROM - Clie FAQs? In those FAQs, there are FOUR screens of info about what to do when your Clie freezes - including how to do a Hard Reset, and the importance of doing a hotsync or MS Backup first! HELLO - when you actually need this info (i.e your Clie is frozen) do you think you could find a more inaccessible place to have this info???

Good Evening-

Could someone with an OS 5 device (non-TH55, obviously) share the WA Clock application with me? Unless this is deemed "illegal" by CS.

Thanks much.

I tried both 1.12 (I think this is NX bundled) and 1.13 (UX bundled?) on my th55, they worked fine. But I noticed that 1.13 is only half size of 1.12 (65kb).

Hello,

I wonder if anyone would be able to help me with some information. I have tried to transfer WA alarm clock 10.2 from T665c to my TH-55 without success. I keep getting a fatal reset message? I used Filez, but maybe am not doing correctly. Does anyone know if that version will work with OS 5 it is coming from OS4 version. I saw some posts that state the T665c version does in fact work but I have not been able to get it to work. If anyone has a new version for OS5 I would certainly greatly appreciate it!!

Thanks in advance.....

Yeah, the OS4 versions seems to cause the most headaches on the TH55 whereas the OS5 versions seem more stable. If you're interested it in, contact me.

GeekSounds - a free collection of alarm sounds available at PalmGear - works just fine on my TH55 with WA Clock v. 1.12

Just tried the WA 1.10 and it seems to crash my CO alarm. Since everything seems to crash this alarm, I guess it's no surprise. It seems to crash when WA is the last app I use even if I return to the launcher before shutting off my TH. Man, this alarm is so delicate.

I think we can see why Sony didn't put WA Clock on - They've buggered up the alarm system and couldn't be arsed to fix it, so they quietly took out any other alarm things except for the CO and things they just couldn't remove, and then served it up to us hoping we wouldn't notice.

doboy

Maybe it's the version I'm running. Think ppl should try out other versions to see if they screw up the precious CO datebook. If they do then maybe Sony did intentionally leave it out.

I have WAClock v1.11 from an NZ90 and it works perfectly except for now that I'm in Daylight Saving Time it reports the correct time for my timezone but all the others are one hour off. Has anyone noticed this? Is this fixed in v1.12 from the NX80?

Ihate_spam55

On my version, I had to manually change each of the 3 time zone clocks to Daylight Savings - tap on the tiny clock icon next to the current time shown for each time zone you have set and the icon changes from gray/white to black/white to indicate it is now showing DST.
I guess that the app just isn't smart enough to know which areas of the world observe DST - it would have to be MUCH larger to track all of that data.

Peloquin

I just use Blue Nomad's TimeSync program and my Clié is synchronized to my PC ever time I hot sync. And since my PC is synchronized to the Naval Atomic Clock, I'm pretty confident in the time on my PDA.

Though be careful, sometimes the current release version won't pick up DST either. If you email BlueNomad, they will send you the previous release, which didn't have this problem.

Wow. Thanks. I would have *never* figured that out ;-) I wonder what was updated in v1.12 then...
