Graffiti Shortcuts Hang

Whenever I try to access the Graffiti shortcut list under "Preferences" on my NX70V, I get a "white screen of death" and have to soft reset.  However, I CAN use shortcuts I've already defined.  Anyone got any ideas?

P.S.  I DID search ClieSource first!  :)

me too. try waiting a minute or 2 and it should come back (It does for me). Did you by chance install Graffiti 1?

I'm running a quick test and no, I've had a white screen for, oh, say 10 minutes.

No, I haven't installed Graffiti 1. I assume that's what the NX70V ships with, though. I do have a number utities: Jack Flash, Colorize, the CF Utility and Cliemounter, Okey, etc. My problems seem to predate most of these utilities, though.

Here is a thread about System Shortcuts (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25491&highlight=shortcut) . I had the same problem with my NX70....it took forever for the screen to come up, plus it would only hold so many shortcuts. I never did figure it out. One day it started letting me add more shortcuts, but the screen was still verrrrrry slow.

annie, what a great thread! Now, when I searched for old discussions on the topic, why didn't I find that?!?! :)

This solution solved my problem. Here's the tip (from morporkt)

"I investigated further and found that if you delete the Graffiti Shortcuts database in RAM, the limit goes away. It must get corrupted. I found the information hidden in the archives in a couple of different posts."

. . . Of course, this solution DOES ERASE ALL OF YOUR SHORTCUTS! It restores the default group that comes with the Clie.

Small price to pay, to be able to access the feature.

Steve, that is something good to remember....for future problems!

About the search thing, I don't have the answer. Seems like each time you search, you will get different results...even using the same keywords. But, I remembered the thread, and I remembered that 'shortcut' was in the message, and I posted to the thread. So, I did a search for that keyword and my name which turned the thread up.

I had this problem with only 1 add'l shortcut. The recommended fix resolved it. I just love these forums.
