kinoma does not play native avi mpg wmv dvix, etc. You need to convert them first using something like kinoma producer. Then you wil have a .pdb file that kinoma will recognize.

Basically, if Quicktime can play it, Kinoma Producer 2 [should] convert it

hey njl. I'm really trying to do just that-mov files on a clie
have sj22 QT6.4(non Pro) and Kinoma Prod. 1.2(registered)
The only luck I've had so far is to convert the QT sample movie using Kinoma---uuuuggggh.
I cant seem to get them to work though & I've found some QT files i'd luv to convert but have some silly simple user questions
How do you save QT files to hardrive?
You said if QT can play it then Kinoma (2) can convert it. Can Kinoma 1?
What am I missing besides poss user error here?

Getting QT files from the internet is kinda complicated. First, if you want to download the trailers from http://www.apple.com/trailers/ forgetaboutit. These movies are streams and you can't convert them. If you use IE and you are able click on a direct link to a movie (the page is all grey with the movie in the center), then right-click on the link to the movie and select "save link target as..." and a dialog box should come up. I suggest using Mozilla.

To get QT .MOVs off a page with Mozilla, find a page with a QT movie, right-click a blank spot on the page and select "View page info" when the window pops up, select the "media" tab. Scroll down and look for an item with the type called "embed" when you select it, a whole bunch of info will come up about it, and if it is a QT movie, just copy the URL at the top into the address bar and press enter. When the movie has completely loaded, go to File>Save page as...

That's not entirely true. If you're using IE some of the trailers will get dumped whole into your Temporary Internet Files folder. all you have to do is perform a search for *.mov that is localized to C:\windows (98 based) or C:\Documents and Settings\ and it should come up.
