View Full Version : I did not think that Sony could make a stylus worse than before

The TH-55 stylus is really pitiful. This thing barely qualifies as a stylus. I got used to the T/TG series stylus, but this one is even smaller!
Back to the old Cross Pen refill stylus for me.

isn't it the same as the nz?

This is the stylus introduced in the NZ series and was/is used in the NX80/NX73/TJ25/TJ35/UX50. While it has a small collapsible upper section, the barrel part you hold on to is the same size as the stylus in the T615/T665 series. I used a micrometer to check size and they are virtually identically in size where you hold on to the stylus. The stylus is just shorter, and has a collapsible top to fit in the silo ..... and! the stylus on the new Clie's has never fallen out of my unit! I lost a couple when I owned the T615 because the stylus would not stay in!:)

Really. I wasn't aware that this stylus was used on all of those units. It still sucks though. IMHO
The stylus definitely needs to be a little "thicker" - I miss my handspring stylii

The best stylus Sony ever made was its first, for the 300. It had great heft, good diameter, & was designed to never, ever fall out of the silo even if it was half out when the unit was turned over! My friend still uses the 300 & he swears by it. The most amazing thing is its battery life is still spectacular.
But, back to the subject, I agree that the telescoping stylus will take a bit of getting used to.
Good news: it'll never fall out of its silo & get lost. Bad news: you wish it would! ;)

Does the stylus PEGA-ST50 listed in the accessories section at SonyStyle fit? $15 seems like a lot for 2 stylii, but maybe they'll be more hefty than the included stylus.

I purchased that stylus pack at Office Depot and they are the same as the stock stylus

Any good 3rd-party stylus that fits this series' silo?

Brando sells 3-in-1 pdair brand and this has received good reviews from pda27. Around 18 bucks with shipping.

That looks much better, just what I'm looking for! How is the vendor - have you purchased from them? I'm a little leery about ordering from Hong Kong.

He is very good with the orders. No complaint against Brando in any of the sites/forums i have been visiting. You just have to wait a few extra days for his products to come to your door. But they definitely will reach you. If not, he is very good with making things right.

Good Evening-
Copy the kudos to Brando. They are an excellent dealer. Never had any issues. Plus, the packages come from Hong Kong with cool looking postage attached. Sorry, it is a simple pleasure. As they say, simple pleasures for complex minds :).

We UX & NX80/73 users have been suffering with 'The Toothpick' for months & months now.
Welcome to 'The Toothpick Club'! :p

This is my first clie, and I would also have to agree that the stylus is abit of a nuissance. It does feel like I'm holding a toothpick at times. Maybe if they could add more weight to it would work out a little bit better. I will be looking for a replacement, so please post anything you believe would be a better alternative as I will do the same.

The Fisher Matte Black Bullet Space Pen with clip and stylus is my favorite:

But I also like the Swiss Army pocket knife with a builtin stylus.

I quite often use my pen (http://www.sanfordcorp.com/sanford/consumer/jhtml/new-product/productdetail.jhtml?attributeId=&nrProductId=SN61231) that is in my pocket. THe top of the cap works just fine. It isn't as fine a point as a real stylus, but works for almost everything I need it for.

Is the PDAir one a floating stylus? I can't tell from the photo.
I really want a floating stylus for this since the one I have for my NX has never scratched the display. And I'm not really a screen protector kind of guy.

I have always been a fan of the texture that Sony uses for its Styli. It has almost a mushy feel to it as opposed to other styli I have used that are hard and seem to scratch the screen more.
Styli? Stai Alai? Jai Alai?

It's supposed to do that or you would find yourself buying quite a few replacements. :)
