What a nice guy came to rate the thread ;
I just found some more infos on palminfocenter whereit'd been posted earlier :
Essentially, this app remaps the TH55's buttons and it's just about usable, although the on-screen text is garbage.
1. When the camera lens cover is closed, the shutter release button can be used as a power button -- first tick box in the app.
2. The Voice Rec button can be remapped as a HotSync button -- doubly useful, since there's no cradle button to initiate a HotSync and I keep hitting Voice Rec instead of power (which is where #1 helps too) -- second tick box in the app. There's a choice of cable HotSync or Mobile too.
3. There's an option that allows the 4th TH55 button to be remapped but I can't figure out how this works. No biggie, I have it mapped to HiLauncher anyway.
4. There seems to be an option to display a warning if you power off with the lens cover open. Can't figure this one out either though.
This is a nifty little app that's worth it for 1. and 2. alone, I think, and you don't need to understand Japanese to use these bits. An English version would be nice though

Thanks for the heads up. Feature 1 is definitely great. Now I'm all excited about potentially new apps.

autotranslation doesn't help much....
New software "THe Go! Go! " was exhibited. (04.2.20)
It is the utility (although it is a convenient accessories grade ....) of CLIE PEG-TH55 exclusive use.

Hi, my first post here (been lurking for the past couple of months).
I did a quick translation of the menu, thought it might be useful:

and the Setup options :

Rokugo, thanks so much for those screenshots!! This is so useful!!
Can you translate the first menu for us? Seems like the top 5 things don't do anything, but I want to make sure of that. Thanks again!!
rokugo
02-22-2004, 09:01 PM
rldunn: you're right, the first menu doesn't do anything.
Its actually the JP version of a standard Palm "Edit" menu, ie Undo, Cut, Copy, Paste, Select All, etc. Notice the familiar shortcut strokes to the right of each item?
Chime-san (the programmer) probably just forgot to delete it.

What is the effect of "warn me when I forget to close the lens cover"? I assume this means when you switch the power off. It doesn't appear to work for me.

I think this app screwed up the camera application after a soft reset. When I slide the camera lens cover open I get an exception and have to reset. After removing this app it still happened.

You can choose an alarm sound from the second drop-down menu -- this plays when you power off with the lens open
rokugo
02-23-2004, 07:33 AM
Wow, version 1.1 is even better.
This is the translated list of changes (my Sensei will kill me for converting all the active verbs to passive... ) :
- The "Data Assistant" button (the rightmost hardware button) can now be used to power on.
(note: requires soft reset)
- The Clie Organiser applications have now been added to The "Data Assistant" button assignment list.
- The extended push of the "Capture" button can now be assigned a function.
With this function enabled, an extended push will switch off the unit, and a short push can be assigned as either the "JogDial push" or the "Back" button.
- The internal handling of the "Capture" button's power-off function has been fine-tuned.
And the revised Main menu (no changes to the Setup menu):

As mentioned by Unregistered, you get a warning sound whenever you switch the unit off (using the "proper" power button of course) or exit the Clie Camera app without closing the lens cover.
And you select the warning sound from the Setup menu.

Works fine on mine.
Did you enable the new"Power on" option for the Data Assistant button? If you did, there should have been a pop-up menu to prompt you to reset the unit, and you're supposed to click on the left button.

Okay, I didn't realize I had to set a sound in the second menu to get the lens cover warning to work. That is pretty cool. I was finding myself leaving it open, so that is a nice feature to have. It would be nice to only have it beap once, but who am I to complain? Thanks for the help!
Does anyone know if an English version is forthcoming?
rldunn
02-23-2004, 09:39 AM
Thanks again rokugo!!
jumpyg, I would imagine an English version is coming, since he has English versions of his other apps. Maybe when he quits developing the Japanese version, he'll do the translation.
By the way, this is the same guy who made HRCaptDA, which I still think is the best and easiest screen capture app out there.
jumpyg
02-23-2004, 09:46 AM
Great, I'll look forward to it.
Does HRCaptDA work on the TH55?
rldunn

Yes, HRCaptDA works great on the TH.
jumpyg
02-23-2004, 10:53 AM
Thanks. What DA launcher do you use?
rldunn
02-23-2004, 10:58 AM
I use the ZLauncher QuickLaunch list in conjunction with SelectDA. I put SelectDA in my QL list, and when you select it, it displays a list of all your DAs. That way, I don't have to use a lot of slots in the QL list for all of my DAs.

This is such a great app, I thought it was a shame to let a little language barrier get in the way.
Oh, and my screencaps were actually taken with HRCaptDA. Yup, its the best out there.

Just a word of caution. After installing this, I got caught in a soft reset loop and had to eventually do a hard reset.
andrewcoffin
02-24-2004, 06:48 PM
Shoot...even the hard reset didn't fix the problem, once i synced again. Can anyone help me with this? I can get to my apps by doing a warm reset (which blanks the graffiti area), but even going back into TheGoGo and unchecking all of the boxes doesn't help.
Can someone who knows Japanese translate the menus (not just the main screens) in TheGoGo? Perhaps these would help...
outie
02-24-2004, 08:07 PM
a hard reset should fix the problem. You might need to remove the conflicting apps (thegogo?) from your Backup folder.
When you hard reset and then hotsync the conflicting apps just get restored back to your device so you'd end up with the problem.
andrewcoffin
02-24-2004, 08:09 PM
I tried this. Even removing TheGoGo from my back up folder and then resyncing doesn't solve the problem...
enderenya
02-24-2004, 08:20 PM
well, don't sync again after you hard reset. Have you backed it up on a memory stick?
I never trust HotSync to do it's job for restoring because it doesn't store my address/datebook/todo/memo databases as pdb files.
If you've backed it up on your stick, I would restore all files but the THgogo app and any other trash
andrewcoffin
02-24-2004, 08:24 PM
I even tried a hard reset and hotsync to my home PC, which I had not synced with since installing TheGoGo. I STILL get the same error.
I'm kicking myself for installing this dang app now!
outie
02-24-2004, 09:18 PM
You probably have some other softwares conflicts. Try renaming the Backup folder to something else and then sync after hard reset. This way you should have a clean setup.

As I've explained earlier to rldunn, the menu is just the Japanese equivalent of a standard Palm "Edit" menu. It doesnt do anything here.
But for the sake of completeness, here's the translation:
EDIT
Undo /U
Cut /X
Copy /C
Paste /P
Select All /S

Keyboard /K
Graffiti help /G

rokugo, what's on the 2nd column of the menu? One of the settings is for the alarm sound, right, but I don't know what the other setting is for.
rokugo
02-24-2004, 10:43 PM
Oh...thats just the "About" page.
No settings there.
So nothing to translate, other than the copyright notice (which I'm not gonna touch since I'm no expert) on the left button:

And as a big caveat, please do a full backup using the MS Backup utility, before installing TheGoGo.

Yes I do, don't ask me how as doing things with thegogo is a big guess. Very useful app BTW, I always hated the slider power-on switch on my NX73 now it is much more confortable. My tip is just keep trying.

Mine does.
I love the alarm for the lens cover too. I had this on, but it wasn't making any sound. Then I changed the alarm sound to one that actually makes noise and it works great.

I got it to sync wireless using the voice recorder button. My problem turned out to be related to the HotSync Manager, not THeGoGo.

Looks like version 1.15 is out.
jumpyg
02-26-2004, 09:32 AM
I installed the newest version. Unfortunately, now there are untranslated items!
On the settings screen you get to from the drop-down menu, there is an option to disable THeGoGo when Picsel Viewer is launched, which is supposed to make loading Picsel faster. This does seem to work. Before, it consistently took 15 seconds to load Picsel, with the box checked, it takes 8 seconds. What I don't understand is what the drop-down menu with "6/8/10/12" options does. Any ideas?
rokugo, could you please provide a translation? Thanks a lot! I can't wait till this (hopefully) gets released in English.
This application really screws up PicselViewer. I discovered if you start PV too fast right after another application you get a soft reset, though after GO GO has been completely uninstalled by UninstallManager.
So I ended up keeping 1.1 (1.2 is worse) and just start PV slower.
Anyone has this problem and fix?

Sorry I meant 1.15 is worse...

OK, this is the complete set of screencaps, with all relevant items translated, for version 1.15.
This time I've added my own notes, and a numbering sequence, to match the screens to the buttons/settings. These are in red text.
btw when you click "I agree"" you get a big "ARIGATOU GOZAIMASU" screen, then the main menu.

1. Thank you so much for translating this app.
2. What is the yellow area with the yellow, red and blue tabs near the bottom of your screen. I don't seem to have anything like that on my TH55.
And if the answer to this quesiton is painfully obvious to everyother person in the world - my apologies.

This is what the Babel Fish translation says:
Version 1.18 (04.2.28)
Functional off of main software at the time of Picsel Viewer use, it was not only when starting, it made to when the ending of Picsel Viewer
For this modification, appointment of functional off time of the setting picture was lost
Now someone translate that into real English!

Neither can I..lol.
This one is minor though, just the option to disable all functions while using Picsel Viewer. Not much improvement, so I'm sticking to v1.15.
And yes, the author says he probably won't be having any version ups for a while, since he's busy with his regular job, as well as preparing documents for his Income Tax returns.. :)

1. You're most welcome.
2. Yes, that's Decuma Japanese. The yellow area is for inputting Kanji characters (ideograms borrowed from the Chinese). The red tab switches to Kana input (Japanese alphabets) and the blue tab is for inputting Roman alphabets and numerals. (Japanese handwriting in daily usage requires all three sets of characters)
So far Decuma is the most "elegant" program of its kind out there.
Sorry for going OT, just wanted to share my fascination with the language :)
Ok. Let's give it a try...I mean the newest version.

I've gone back to version 1.1. I had 1.15 installed, and I tried to open Clie FIles and it crashed. I tried it again and it crashed again. It was working after I installed 1.15, but then all of a sudden it started crashing every time I tried to open it. At the same time I noticed Clie FIles wouldn't run, my fourth "hard-wired" button, which I have set to DocsToGo, would also cause a crash. I though it might be THeGoGo, so I deleted it, reinstalled 1.1, did a soft reset, and all was good to go again.
When 1.18 was released I installed it - same thing. Everything is peachy for a while, and then all of a sudden trying to open Clie FIles causes a crash, pushing the DocsToGo button causes a crash, and now I discover that I can't open McPhling - it just hangs saying "please wait...". I had just upgraded McPhling so I thought maybe it was the problem. I finally got it to run, and when I selected the "VFS Support" box, it hung on the "Please wait" thing again. After the reset I deleted THeGoGo and everything worked great. I put 1.1 back on and everyting seems to be the way it should be. I almost never use Picsel Viewer anyway, so I'll stick with this version for a while.
(OT, the newest McPhling (5.4) is pretty cool - you can call up the MRU list from the command bar now. Very useful to me since I don't have to bring the graffiti up in order to see the MRU.)

I really want to try this app, because I hate the power-on slider. But, how many have had problems with hard resets with 1.18? I really don't want to get into that whole can o' worms if it's unstable. Don't get me wrong, I applaud the developer for the app in general, but I need to know if it's a "danger" to my TH55 in terms of making apps not work and having to hard reset to get things back to normal.
Thanks!

TheGoGo will:
1. alert you to the lens cover being left open.
2. Turn the voice recorder button into a sync button
