I'm getting nervous with these posts I'm seeing about the 55 being slow...I did the pre-order via BestBuy because of the 319 price.

Anyone NOT seeing a speed issue?

FWIW, I'm coming from a Zire71 and don't see a speed problem. I just spent the last hour and a half playing Bookworm and Scrabble. The battery started out at 100% and when I finished was only at 91%. *That* makes me happy. :)

My benchmark for speed was Warfare Inc. It played just as fast on the TH55 as it did on the NX80 and UX50 units that I tried it on. I have also seen no slowness in the Clie Organizer, but that may vary with how much information you have in it, and it is dealing with. I have absolutely no desire to get rid of the TH55, it is a very nice device.

the biggest complaints for speed are coming from T3 owners, which went from 400mhz to 128. I am coming from an NR, though it has not arrived yet, I can't imagine problems coming from 66mhz

I'm coming from an NX80, and I think the speed is fine. In fact, it really doesn't seem any different than the NX in anything I've tried so far. AcidImage displays pics just as fast. And most surprisingly, it seems like Docs2Go v6 updates spreadsheets just as fast!! I'm not using the most complex spreadsheets, but I just updated a single cell in a spreadsheet that had the rest of the column based on that value (about 40 other cells), and it updated in a few seconds. Clie Organizer is a *little* slow for a few things, but if you've purged old updates and todos, I think it will be fine for you. I just can't see speed being a major problem with the TH, which is great, since I was concerned about that as well.

Well, I'm coming from a much older Clie, so it's not slow to me.

I pre-ordered via BB, too. I would urge you to take a print-out of your BB order confirmation to the closest Circuit City and ask them to price match. They will also give you 10% of the difference, which worked out to $8 in my case. Circuit City also has a better return policy--14 days with no restocking fees. Try it out and if you don't like it, return it.

jumpyg, we went to the same store and maybe dealt with the same person and you got the extra 10% off and I didn't :( Hey, I'm not complaining!! I still got quite a deal and I have my TH now!! That's funny that the Novi store is already out, and they just got them sometime in the afternoon!!

Thanks jumpyg, I'll head to CC tomorrow and pricematch my BB order. I hope it works. Heck, I hope they even have it there!

I'm coming from an NX80 and I am noticing a little slow down on a few apps like BDicty with the English Gold Dictionary.

But so far it is a far better screen, better size, has Wi-Fi, covered MS Slot and I like the finish and the placement of the Jog Dial along with the reduced size.

All in all I think that the little slow down I have noticed is well worth the extended battery life and reduced form factor and textured finish.

Very nice device and with the CC price match to the BB pre-order, you can't go wrong, IMHO.:D

OH, and there are a few Hires+ Apps that seem to be having a little trouble with collapsing the Grafitti Area, but I am assuming the Developers will be working on the fixes soon.

rldunn--I went at about 5:30PM and talked to a guy named Sat at the customer service counter. He told me to go get the TH and bring it back up to the counter. He didn't give me a hard time at all. When he brought the TH up in his computer, he commented on what a great deal I was getting. Who did you talk to?

I'm still slowly loading stuff on and testing, but I did notice that when I ported over my calendarDB, the Clie Organizer slowed way down to process it all. Further testing is needed, but if that continues, I'll stick with DateBk5 (once I get my issue fixed with the Det button resetting). I do get lovely full screen with DB5, though; and no issues with invoking the silkscreen.

Miss Clie, which version of DB5 are you using. I have the latest version (v5.1a, sK), downloaded yesterday, and it's not supporting the VG area.

I looked again, I've got v5.1a, s1, downloaded at around midnight last night (Saturday).

Vedddy Eeenterestink!!

However, while yours may not use full screen, mine's still resetting every time I make a new appt or press Det. So, maybe yours is a wee bit more stable!

Thanks rldunn!

I went back to Pimlico's page and read the small print; found this little caveat under the download section:

Tungsten T3/E, Clie UX-50/TH-55, Treo600 or Garmin iQue3600? Download this sk interim step release for support of these new device's features. You MUST use this version with the new UX-50 or TH-55!

I had just downloaded the latest .zip, and missed that. Now it works fine, but yeah - I can't do full screen.

Oh well, with the speed that CESD gets stuff updated, we should be going full-screen by the middle of the week! <3 CESD!!

Yeah, I agree. I would be surprised if sL didn't fix the VG problem. Thanks for clarifying!!

I just beamed DB5 the latest S1 release, not the alphas over to my TH55 and it's working fine. I can't figure out where to set my day-view appointments to a small font, but I did find where to do it for the split view items.

With S1 it's working fine. I did have a crash my first time into dayview, but from there on I'm golden and the VG area collapses.

I've cancelled my $319 preorder from BB. For me, it doesn't seem like a good unit compared to T3. I've been reading posts about TH having dead pixels, wifi problem, slower processor, etc... too many to list them. I was at first excited to switch back to Clie but I'll stick with T3 and wait unit SD wifi card comes out (not to mention T3 might be upgradeable to OS6).

Concerning the WLAN upgrade on the t3: As sandisk's wlan-sd-card will take it's power from the tungsten t3's battery, how long do you think will you be able to surf, as the battery is already withouth communication a bit weak?

I tried the ARM native version of Warfare Inc (in beta right now) on a TH55 and it smokes!

Not to mention it runs landscape on the TH55 :)
