This sounds interesting. Any ideas on what this means?

These guys are unbeliveable! Just a week ago I was saying it would be cool if ZLauncher or Launcher X added an option to support the function AcidImage added to launch images. And it's already here! AcidImage hasn't even released the final version yet, that feature is still in beta!

what exactly is it?

The latest beta of Acid Image added a way to launch images from other apps. So I guess this means you can launch images from ZLauncher to AcidImage. Haven't got to try it yet as I don't have that beta version installed. I think I will have to download as this feature sounds pretty cool.

Anyone notice when launching apps off the card, there are now two progress bars and and indicator that says "1/1" I wonder if there is going to be a feature to lauch databases off of the card along with the apps. That would be a great feature. I can't really see any other reason to have a "1/1" unless there is a way to have more than one file being loaded at the launch of an app.

ZZTechs is amazing. Didn't expect this update. And they said the full file manager is due in early March. It's like Christmas every few weeks.

They've convinced me, time to register:D

Couple of nice additions...When you go to the Theme Manager, it remembers the last tab you were on. You can now use a right swipe on the grafitti area to move forward one tab and left sweep to move back a tab.

the acid image feature still neads some work. I tried using it on a larger picture (taken with my digi cam), I got a Sys 0503 error when trying to preview. Though the preview works on smaller images (640 x 480)

Also, if you try to "Launch" a pic off the MS it does nothing.

Still needs work

O.k. Correction folks.

Under display setup there is a checkbox for Support Acidimage.

But when I clicked it and went back to the filemanager for the MS, when I click on an image it tries to load it, but is unsuccessful.

It wouldn't show any of the images that I clicked on, it would only try to load them.

Anyone else expierenceing this problem

Same issue on my T665 :(

I'm not having any trouble at all with Acid Image on my T665; I thought maybe this was a new wrinkle that popped up in the latest beta but it's working just as it was in some earlier ones I tried. Have you tried a "refresh apps"?

I'm using AcidImage 2.4N, any possibility you are using an older version? Just trying to think of reasons it might work on mine and not yours.

Works on mine on jpgs and bitmaps, regardless of whether the AcidImage box is checked for jpgs loaded full or not.

OH, one other thing, I installed AcidImage (which I'd only been trying out and had removed) AFTER I loaded the new ZLauncher that supports it. Reinstalling AcidImage might be another thing to try.

AcidImage cont. -- also, "launch" works on mine, and the largest image I have size wise is 320x1424 and that launches too in AcidImage.

Did you check the new "default launcher" box in general preferences for Zlauncher? I have NO idea if that would make a difference (except that now it allows me to go in and out of Yishow within ZLauncher and I like that a lot!)

Anita,

That was it I downloaded AcidImage 2.4N, works as advertised.
Just need to make sure we all have 2.4N.

Thanks

anyone got any error changing background images? I tried to switch an image from the MS and an error came out. well am back to 2.21.

Anita

1) It seems faster to me, dunno if that's my imagination.

2) I had a puzzling problem before (and I think I wasn't the only one) where Zlauncher recognized some of my T665 jpgs for backimages, but did not recognize others, for no apparent reason. The new version totally fixed that. Jpgs that didn't work before do now.

3) I find the Zlauncher preview function on images to be at least as fast or faster than AcidImage. Since I'm probably NOT going to register AcidImage, that's really good news for me.

My one gripe about the AcidImage plug-in is that if you have display set to "always start on 1st Tab", when you close a photo AcidImage has launched, you bounce back to your first tab -- OUT of your pictures directory. Which, of course, is what would happen if you opened and closed the AcidImage program initially. ZZTechs says they want to try and fix this. If you want to stay in the directory and keep using AcidImage, you need to uncheck the "start on 1st tab" option.

4) When you drag an icon down toward the gadget bar, the tool bar pops right up. (if "Auto popup panel" is checked in Graphic display). VERY handy once you get used to it.

How much of a "beta" is this release? How stable is it? I prefer to wait for the actual release version of an app.
Does anyone know when this version will become a final release?

I've tried every function listed as new in this release.

All work as intended, not one lock-up.

SJ30, with no hacks and FastCPU running aps in memory @52Mhz and most aps on MS @60Mhz....

ZLauncher Rocks....

What!

ZZtechs had at least two prior betas to this, I know, because they sent them to me for testing (because I'd had that odd problem with jpgs on 2.21). . . I had absolutely NO lockups or crashes on those or this latest one. No soft resets and no error messages at all.

I'm sure there were many others testing the earlier betas.

I had one little oddity -- when I would install a new version, a couple of my launchable Smartlist databases shifted out of their assigned category into unfiled and had to be recategorized. But that didn't happen at all with this last version.

T665C with McPhling, Mi[colon]D, Tealscript Rescript, MessageEAseKB Hacks; Keep Sleep and Beam Off utilities.

I've been running it all day without incident. T665C w/about 10 hacks, PiDirectII, SwitchDash 0.44.

I emailed ZZTechs this morning about lauching jpgs with CRSImgView or McJPEG, and received an answer within 30 minutes. Turns out that only AcidImage accepts arguements on execution amongst the graphics viewers, and hence can be passed the jpg file name. I guess the backimage preview will have to do for now. McFile's integration w/McJPEG works super, but McJPEG is significantly slower than CRSImgView.

Two things I would like to see now are, more programs to support launching docs from the launcher, and some way to add JPEG's on the MS to a tab. It would be cool to have differnet tabs set up like albums.

This is actually B6 of v2.22. I haven't seen any signs of any instability at all on my NR with plenty of hacks, dAs etc. It actually seems a little faster than 2.21.

ZZTechs add more new features with a .01 upgrade than most developers add with a 1.00 upgrade. They are truly amazing. If they keep up this pace, Bill Gates better start worrying, if they get into the PC OS business.

I believe you can use CRSImgView instead of McJPEG to view jpgs with McFile.

I have not purchased Zlauncher because of this feature (or lack thereof), but YiShow seems to be slipping into the Abandonware category.

I recommend emailing them, they are very responsive. It seems that it's been mentioned in a previous thread that this feature was on their radar screen, but email them anyway.

With ZLauncher, I find myself defaulting to "unfiled" with no icons whatsoever up there and don't really use icons much any more. I have McPhling with 10 favorite apps, plus another three fave apps programmed to the hard buttons; and Zlauncher's Quicklaunch doing most-recent apps.

What I really like about Quicklaunch is that its "most recent" list ONLY registers apps called up within Zlauncher -- it doesn't register apps called up by McPhling or the hard buttons, so there's virtually no duplication.

In Yishow, I used to have small icons 2 or 3 across and 5 down and I chose or made backgrounds with that in mind. But Zlauncher has so many customizing options for icon text color (with or without shadows) and font that I can come up with a way to read the icon text on virtually any background.

I converted a couple of Dali's "bent clock" art (very cluttered, lots of colors) to backgrounds and I can even read icon text on those.

IOW, I too thought I wanted more flexibility in icon placement but find that feature has been rendered moot.

My only major wishes are the Ram file manager and (ala YiShow) automatically drop the background on the details list view (tho it's not that hard to do it manually by just going with no backimage).

Actually, wasn't it YOU who posted in the big thread about splitting McPhling and QuickLaunch (faves for McPhling, most-recent for QuickLaunch)? Because I jumped on that idea, tried it out and that's when I found "unfiled" made a dandy default category.

In which case, I'd say "unfiled" was your neighborhood first, and you made it possible for me to move in <g>.

I also used to think category tabs were a must, wished YiShow had them and that was one thing that converted me to Zlauncher. Now I never use them. MIGHT use them if they ran down the right instead of across the top. Don't like scrolling categories and so I have icons-only on the tabs, to avoid that -- I use the categories infrequently that I can't remember what the icons stand for!

I don't like any tags at all, I don't care if the app is in RAM or on the stick, as long as it runs:)! The tags make the screen look cluttered and spoils my CDII view:D!

So I am glad that I can turn them off. When I upgraded and had seen the tags, I almost panicked:(, but the found it under Icons.

Hmm, I tried this today and found something sorta neat. You can hide the status bar and still get to your McPhling list if you have it associated with an upstroke from the launcher button. Just have to know where the button would be.

Are you talking about the McPhling list (which I have associated with a stroke from the menu to home icons on the graffiti area) or the Quicklaunch list in Zlauncher?

I just tried it for quicklaunch, with gadgets hidden, upstroke from where quicklaunch gadget would be, but didn't get the quicklaunch list. Is that what you mean works for you?

No, I mean the McPhling list. If you stroke from where menu should be on the bottom status bar, to where home should be, while the status bar is hidden, your McPhling list will come up.

An odd thing happened to me with this release. I have NR buttons installed and I can't see them on the bottom bar. They are invisible when I'm in a category but if I tap the blank space where they should be located, the assigned application launches. Oh, and when I'm using any application or playing a game I can see the NR buttons just fine. Go back to the category and they are invisible again. NR buttons showed up perfectly with the last release.

Any other NR70 owners having this problem?

I assigned my camera button to Mcphling as well. It makes it much easier to get to.
