Well, it has finished charging, and I have just installed the software and my first hotsync is done. Some random thoughts about this unit so far:

1) it has a nice, solid feel to it when I am using it, not a plastic cheap feeling. It seems to be a solid unit, more so than the UX50.

2) the Clie Organizer is going to take some getting used to. It is very obtrusive, and there will be a leaning curve with it. It reminds me of Outlook when it was first released, there is so much that you can do with it, and you can customize it so many ways.

3) the display is very nice, sharp and very viewable, even through  the smoked cover,

4) the memory stick door is a god send. The slot is recessed and out of the way, and the door keeps it from accidentaly poping out. I have seen threads in both the UX and NX groups about sticks getting lost. Those days are over.

5) it synced just fine with Outlook 2002, which I use at work. At home I will be using the Palm Desktop, and most likely the Clie Organizer. I did register to get the free Docs to Go, but they have to send you a code by email to get it.

6) having the jog dial and indicators on the back took some getting used to, but the unit is smaller than it looks in the pictures, that it fits in my hand just fine, and controlling them is not a problem.

7) also, there is NO WHINE coming from the screen...yet!

More to follow. Tomorrow will be a chance to use it at work.....

Yes, I placed my order with SonyStyle on Feb. 11th. I have had good luck with them in the past, and couldn't see changing vendors. I was really intrigued about the BestBuy deal, but remember a similar situation when the NX60/70s came out, where Dell had a really great intorductory price, but then couldn't deliver and a lot of orders were cancelled. They were also advertising the Gunmetal gray ones, and never did deliver any that I can recall. I wish everyone that ordered through BestBuy gets there, but I understand there have been some problems with cancelled orders.

I just installed the latest version of Power48, the HP calculator emulator that I use a lot, and it runs just fine. But then it was designed for the 320x480 form factor, and I didn't think there would be a problem.

I installed the latest version of Mobipocket (4.8) and it won't go into the 320x480 mode, only the 320x320. I have an email off to them, I seem to remember an issue with that in the past. I haven't installed Palm Reader Pro yet, but there are only so many hours in the day.

Well, back to Warfare Inc (it came with the unit as well).

rlc7254,
Good news about sync with Outlook 2002, however am very curious about the outlook address book sync with the clie PIM. How does the clie handle the multiple fields such as address, e-mail, phone numbers?

This would highly influence my decision to swap my TG50 for the TH.

Thankx

Nice reviews from actual users, I like the part about the MS Slot, how the MemoryStick is covered by the cover, & that the MS will no longer pop out. It's a nice touch, tiny but you can see that Sony is being sensible to minor details. :)
Though the issue with MS popping out was never a major concern to me. I think this additional touch is nice. :p

Having played around with it at the shop myself, I do have to admit that it does take some time getting used to, especially with the new layout of all the hard buttons, eg. Jog-Dial, Back button, Capture button, etc. But once you get used to it, it's a breeze. :D

With Outlook, it only transferred my Contacts folder, which are items I have entered into the program. It did transfer all the fields that I filled out, all the different phone numbers, email addresses, that sort of thing. I haven't figured out all the ins and outs of the Clie Organizer, it is going to take a few days to get used to that.

What did you think about the size? I was suprised to see that it is actually thinner than the TJ37, and not that much bigger than the UX50. When I have it in my shirt pocket, it doesn't stick out like the NX series did, so that will relieve some of the nerd factor :D.

First, thanks rlc7254 for your very informative posts. It sound like I'm going to be happy that I preordered the TH (if I ever get it from best buy).

Size was a factor, so I was considering the TJ37. Do you find it "pocketable"?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but, I didn't realize you could sync to Outlook AND Palm Desktop. I use Outlook at work & if it works, I'd love to use Palm Desktop at home. Do you just install it on both computers using the Outlook sync for the work computer & Palm Desktop on home computer? I pre-ordered my TH55 from BB...hope it gets here soon!

The size of the unit was, I would say, as I expected. I think it was some what the same thickness compared to the TJ37. But the TH55 has a sleek body design, appearing to be less bulky & I really liked it. :D

I was so excited over that unit that I didn't really pay much attention to TJ37.
I still own the NX70, so I was more interested in TH55 with the 320*480 Virtual Graffiti. It's simply a piece of beauty. :p

Battery life is better than advertised if you've been following EdFromBrighthand's comments.

is it due to a bigger battery than the UX50?

Excellent reviews. I'm more concerned with processor speed. It's great they included Warfare. How does the speed of that particular game compare with playing it on your NX? Also, what about screen / color comparisons vs. the NX? I'm more curious in those comparisons since I'll be switching from the NX to the TH.

As for the MS slot door, I'm one of those few who accidentally had their MS pop out. It really scared me until I found it on the conference room floor. Now my NX has scotch tape around the MS so it doesn't pop out.

There is another thread going that has pictures of about 6 or 7 differnent Clies and how they compare side by side. One of them is of the TJ37 and the TH55 one on top of the other. I was shocked to see that the TH is thinner than the TJ. Yes, it is very pocketable.

I've lost 2 memory sticks with the popping out problem. I'm looking forward to my TH55.

Next week Warfare Incorporated v1.1 will be released with native ARM support for OS 5 and above devices. The speed of this version is great on both NX and TH. Plus this version has built in landscape support. It's a free upgrade.

Love the battery life of this thing. When they first advertised the UX battery life with all the 'stamina' ad, they should have been talking bout the TH as this battery is just amazing. Just daily everyday usage with 100%backlight and I'm just at 75% right now, everyday usage is putting in appointments, contacts, listening to some music, reading book and playing a game or two of freecell :). I simply love this battery
