First of all. Im planning on getting an NX60, and I want to know if $419 is a good price for it? (from a store, so no shipping).
Secondly, for ATRAC, I need the white memory stick, can I store any other type of files on the magic gate, or just MP3/ATRAC?
Another question, A REAL strech, but here goes:
I've an S105 wireless phone, it has IR, can it's IR cross-IR-ify with my NX60 and share data? phonebooks, etc... Secondly, is there an adapter for the S105 > NX60, so I can use it as a modem? heh, real long throw on that one ;)

First - Yes, good price.
Second - You can use any kind of memory stick...don't buy the white ones, they're too expensive and stupid...get regular ones...you can use normal MP3, but you have to have some kind of weird ATRAC verification thingy....something like that. Don't worry about the magic gate thing, as far as I know, it only affects playing ATRAC3 (useless) files.
Third - no and no. Unless it has palmos, you can't sync adress books...but if it does, you can. No adapter, unless the phone is bluetooth enabled, in which case you can get a bluetooth memory stick, which is kinda slow and glitchy, but good overall. Hope you decide to get it!
(be warned: CF slot probably won't have drivers for regular CF cards any time soon)

You can store MP3s on the cheaper normal memory sticks (MS). You only need the MG for ATRAC files.
Great price.
If your phone uses the IRdA protocol, it should work with the NX.

Sorry I haven't priced NX60's lately
The only thing that you need the white Magic Gate memory stick for is to play Sony's proprietary ATRAC3 fomat. You can store all types of files. Most of us just use the purple sticks and mp3 music.
Someone else will have to help you with the infrared. You can look in the wireless forum for further info.

yeah, but what's so great about atrac anyway? I HATE proprietary formats....they are the reason for the evil realplayer and problems with quicktime stuff and stupid WMV files....UGH! I hate proprietary things; I can live with prop. hardware, but when you get into video and audio, I HATE it....anyway...sorry for the rant!

I have all my music encoded in ATRAC for my MiniDisc player.

I have heard that the MG Memory Sticks are coming down in price. Though most of us just use the purple sticks and use MP3's, it might be worth the extra price of the white MS if you have a lot of music in ATRAC format. No point in wasting hours and hours of time to save a few dollars.

Why did you do that? Sony has been trying to shove that down our throats since day one, so we can be controlled and for them to make even more $$$. Are you sure that those ATRAC files will even work on the MS?
Sony relented and somewhat supported mp3's as no one was buying the ATRAC3 format stuff.

ATRAC is actually a VERY good compression format. Sony's implimentation of it on the PC (IE: OpenMG, and that other one.. SoundStage or something), are horrid and have that media protection BS in them.

Anyways, further questions, heres a list of stuff Im getting (dont reflect on the prices, just tell me what else to get)
I have 590, max, prob that I wanna play with here:
NX60, $419
BB Service Plan, $29.99
128mb Memory Stick, $49.99
leaving ~ $91.
Now, I was thinking of getting some of those Sony Nude eX (MDR-EX70SL) earbuds, for my minidisc player and the NX60, they have that SL friendly cable (short, so it doesnt become a pain with the remote). and those are fairly expensive ~ $45
Dunno what else to get, save for a case (was gonna go with that hard shell one, thats on the cliesource main page, but for ~$25
