any possibility we can get size comparisons between multiple devices? Or anyone, for that matter?

Device looks amazingly sleek and elegant-I'll have to see how I like it though before actually using it.

I just read the BrightHand (http://www.brighthand.com/article/Sony_Clie_TH55_Review) review on it. Looks awesome. Only thing holding me, is no clam-shell. I am addicted to it. I've had the NR, now NX70V, and soon to be NX80V. I just can't lose it.

NX70V, I am particularly looking for a Sony UX50 and a TT3 comparison, in high res pictures.

Hopefully we'll get a review site like PIC give us a review as well.

So FEDEX could not deliver my TH55 w/out the company name on the addres. So I call and they say I can come pick it up at the FEDEX Station. So I drive 1/2 hour to go pick up the TH55. I get there and they tell me they can NOT give it to me. They SHOW me the package and I have my ID and everything but they say SONY does not allow FEDEX to release packages over the counter. SO I say - get your supervisor. The guy goes and asks for his supervisor and while he's gone I figure screw it - and take the package off the counter and leave !!!

I then call FEDEX and tell them I have the package and not to worry about it. They say great and sorry for the problems.

Then I'm at home happily taking pictures for you folk and charging it up when my phone rings. It's FEDEX - the station manager says if I don't return the package she will call the POLICE !! I'm like it's MINE and I paid for it and I paid to have it shipped and now I have it!!! She insists - I tell her to screw off.

THEN I call the national FEDEX number to make sure all is cool and NO - They have talked to the local supervisor and she called the POLICE and if I don't return it to the FEDEX station she's going to file a report.

I spend about an hour on the phone with FEDEX telling them they are morons and it's my package etc... they won't listen. So I decided I didn't want the POLICE showing up at my work in the AM - so I drove back and gave them the damn package.

I told then what the company name was and the supervisor said they cannot even correct the address, SONY has to do it. So they'll keep trying to deliver it w/out the company name and it won't get anywhere... GREAT !! GO FEDEX ! NO THAT is customer service - call the police.

So I did get to play with the TH55 while I was on the phone with FEDEX fending off the police - and it's pretty cool - maybe I'll get it back some day who knows.?!?!

HAVE YOU HEARD A CRAZIER STORY ANYWAY??? At least I got the pics up before the FBI showed up at my door to charge me with stealing a package that I paid $400 to SONY for and $40 to have it shipped over night to me...

OH MY GOD

That is messed up. The lengths some companies go to lose customers is amazing. I hope you get it back soon so you can post more pics. :D

While I was returning it I asked her - "If the SONY customer service rep was here what would he want you to do?"

She said that wasn't important.

WTF ????

Hope you're all enjoying your TH55s - Mine is in some cold warehouse.

OH MY GOD

That is the dumbest policy i've heard in my life, and that too, coming from FedEx.

Why not just return the device and buy the exact same from somewhere like BestBuy or Compusa?

Sorry, I think you talked to some major morons. It is NOT FedEx policy to disallow you to pick up the package over the counter. I have ordered several items delivered by FedEx and NEVER had a problem picking them up over the counter. I would call Sony and complain to them. Maybe they will be a little more reasonable.

That is so f$%^ed.  I would be livid.  However since misery loves company... I once had to literally chase down my Toshiba 805 PPC bound on a UPS flight to Toronto, destined for an unknown address.  I live in Montreal (over 300 miles away)!!!

The stupidity of some companies is mind-boggling.  Since you haven't officially received the unit I would tell Fedex to return it to Sony, complain to Sony, get your money back and buy it at a brick and mortar shop (Circuit City, BB, etc...)

Hang in there!

I think I would write a letter to FedEx and Sony explaining the situation and tell Sony to cancel your order.

Now I'm terrified though. When I ordered from eCost, I paid $10 for FedEx overnight and put my office as my shipping address. I didn't want it to get mixed in with the office packages accidentally, so I just left it as my name and left off the business name! Crap! I hope my guys aren't as stupid about this as yours. And I sat there last night waffling on whether the FedEx overnight was worth the $10, hah!

As far as I know..

It's not Fedex's policy but it is mandated by Sony. Fedex cannot hand over the counter or change the address because Sony does not allow anyone to do so in order to prevent fraud and all dirty stuffs.

When I ordered a a notebook from SS, they had wrong shipping address so I had to cancel the order then replace with a new one. It is pretty stupid but Sony took the safest road than customer-pleasing road - which I can understand cuz majority of their products are over $1000 and it's too risky to give too much freedom to customers or thieves..

(But calling Police is just too crazy!)

Now that even CircuitCity has TH55, why dont you just cancel the order then buy from CC or BB?

The problem here is really Sony's policy, not FedEx. If FedEx releases the package to you despite Sony's policy, they could be liable for the package contents.

Which is not a big deal with electronics orders, but its a bigger deal if sensitive or more expensive packages get lost.
