i think the palm desktop that you download from palm.com will work on clie, but not 100% compatible.

the software that came with the clie CD includes the "palm desktop for Clie", which took away the "expense" function, and added the support for Clie Mail.

i am not 100% sure of the above, but what happened to me is that i downloaded the newest palm desktop from Palm.com, works great, however, when i try to install the clie mail conduit, it couldn't detect my palm desktop. (i think it is actually looking for palm desktop for Clie)

to "guest": sorry, i couldn't find the location to download the "palm desktop for clie" neither....

try ebay...or contact sony, let us know if you have any solution.

Thanks for your help.

I went back to Best Buy, and they found a copy of the Palm desktop software for Sony Clie from a older unit that they had.

To let you know, the Palm desktop software (Palm Version 4.1) will not work with the Sony units, at least, not under Windows XP.

I personally use Palm desktop so that I can have Notepad, and I use Desktop 4.1 with no problems at home and work on WinXp. I have found that if I want to have the mail conduit, I load desktop 4.01 first and configure the mail conduit. Then I install the 4.1 desktop after 4.01 has been installed.

but here is a link for CLIÉ Palm™ Desktop 4.01

I have XP and a T615 and have never even used the CD that came with it since I originally installed everything. Since then I have probably reformatted my computer about 3 times.

I downloaded Palm Desktop 4.1 (from www.palm.com), installed it, had some problems, then installed the HotSync update for the Palm 515, and that fixed the USB problems. I can also use MS Import just fine also.
