Do you think that sony released the TH to be a Tungsten|T3 killer? They are both $399, but the TH has more features.

No. ;)

T3 has more memory, a faster processor, a smaller form factor, five way navigator... Those features will certainly be a factor to some buyers.

As for the TH, some people CAN'T have a camera because of workplace/school restrictions. Others may not like the flip cover.

Those are just a few thoughts off the top of my head. Personally, I like the TH form factor. I'd buy one if it had a faster processor and more memory. Since it doesn't, I'm waiting to see what else is coming.

exactly.
if sony thinks 400mhz is juice sucker (like the nz90 camera + flash), why not put the nx80's 200mhz in the th55?
i end up buying the t3.

T3s are fabulous machines, however, the slider gets annoying after its novelty wears off..

Agreed. I would have bought a T3 months ago if it weren't for the slider. I take mine in and out hundreds of times a day, I'm not going to pull the slider every time I want to use it.

You can work around the T3 slider - plus it has the graffiti on screen facility (similar to tealscript or Graffiti Anywhere apps).

Camera is a nice to have feature, just like Bluetooth. But in the end, it is the processing power and memory that will become bottlenecks in trying to run more apps on the PDA.

The other issue that swung my preference to the T3 is the fact that the SD card is a hell of a lot cheaper than MS... :(

Working around the T3 slider defeats the whole point of the extra screen real estate. I've never had an issue with processing power even on my old SJ30.

Having compared the T/3 and the TH55, the TH55 seems to be a much better constructed machine. The T/3 has a real plastic feel to it, the TH55 is heavier, and the case feels stronger. I also don't like having to use a slider to get the full screen size.

For me it was battery life. I travel quite a bit, and I don't want my PDA to run out of juice a few hours into the day (which the T3 did). I do like the 64MB of RAM on it (although only about 51MB is available), but that adds to battery drain as well. My TH55 is charging right now, and I plan on taking it with me while traveling next week. We'll see how it goes then.

And although I don't do that much browsing from a PDA, having the WiFi there is and added bonus (to me) over the T3.

There are as many opinions as people.

We each have our special needs - things we can't do without & things that are just icing on the cake, frills. I anticipate that everyone will have a different take on the T|3 vs. TH55 question.

Bottom line for all of us though, competition is GOOD! Great, in fact. Who recalls when it took ages to move from the Palm III to the Palm IIIx to the Palm IIIxe? Even their basic apps remained virtually unchanged.

Nobody was clamoring for Hi-Res until Sony introduced it in the 710 series. Or VG until HandEra came up with it.

So I don't care if the TH55 is a T|3 killer or vice versa since it'll all be irrelevant when the *next great thing* comes out.

Vive la competition!

Best thing I've heard all week :D.

heh...I miss the Clie world :(. But, I love my T|T3 :D. IMHO, my T|T3 doesn't feel like plastic when I hold it, and the slider is one of the best things of the T|T3 since it does make the device smaller, something my friend with a NX70v wishes his PDA was.

Of course, I've never touched a TH55 as of yet, but the three things I like about the TH is the style, Clie Organizer, and the WiFi.

Combine the BT, 64MB, and 400MHz of the T|T3 with the WiFi, style, Clie Organizer, and camera of the TH55 and I'll have my perfect PDA, that is, until the next PDA comes out with 256MB RAM :D.

That's why I went ahead and ordered a TH55. I have a T3 and I'm keeping both. :D

Tough competitor - Yes
Killer - Maybe not
