View Full Version : Bestbuy Preorder problem
I preordered my TH around 2/19 from BB and I received an email today stating that there's a problem with billing. I know that there should be no billing problem, my billing address is correct. But I used a virtual credit card# that only limits the charge up to $400 and BB already hold auth for $350 (total cost for TH with tax). I think BB is trying to charge my credit card with the full $399 not $319. They're probably trying to cancel all preorders with $319 price.

Weren't they more specific than that? They just said there's "a problem with billing"? Did they cancel the order?
Why don't you call BB and your credit card company and find out what's going on?

I preordered more than a week before you did and have not received any emails or heard fo any problems. Have you tried calling them? I really doubt they are tryig to cancel all preorders.

Can you post the email they sent you (with private info taken out)?
I always use virtual credit card numbers, and never had any problems, for big items you have to create one with extra dollars for the temporary authorizations.

What's the point of those? Your liability is $50 max with regular credit cards. A lot of companies don't hold you accountable at all for unauthorized charges.
Just curious. What do you have to do when you want to get a new number? Just login to your account and request it?

How did you order with the $329 price on 2/19? They dropped the $329 price on Friday the 13th (rather fitting) and re-released it on their site earlier this week at $399....

Heh, good call LeggNet.
I actually preorder on 2/12, my mistake. Well, I called BB and they said that the credit card rejected so I gave them a new number. I also asked them the total charged and BB customer service said $346. I guess my order is still good, and BB also said it will be shipping 1 or 2 business days. Those of you who preorder, your order should be arriving withing 2-3 days. I still don't understand how my cc was rejected, prob due to $400 limit on virtual number. Virtual card# is a new service from Citibank where you can generate any number of different CC# for your protection. So only that particular merchant can charge your credit card. Well, I'll be waiting for my front porch for delivery. Anyone interested in used T3?

Posted a couple of days ago. Sounded familiar?
"...Just an interesting anecdote from BB today. Ordered a TH55 a week ago. I put it on one of my cards that only has about $500 on it (I think it had about $350 left). Order went through, no problem. Today, I get an email that there's a big problem. Turns out that my phone no. somehow "mysteriously" got changed and didn't match with my card. So what does BB do? Turn around an "recharge" my account for another Clie (even though their web site says it won't be charged 'until shipped'). No surprise, they got a rejection. Explanation was "if nothing's done with this charge in 7 days the card co. takes it off" but "mysteriously" again that failed to happen..."

Don't count on it. I just got off the phone with them and it sounds very certain that they are not going to ship until 4 Mar.

jumpy,
Actually, BB was not really friendly about it and I ended up just canceling the order. Now, I'll just drop by CC or CUSA and pick one up.
BTW, sorry about your cat:D
