As some of you may have already noticed, Pocketphile.com dev has come to a small delay thanks to technical difficulties. It should begin again in a few days. So, none the less, it will not be up on Friday as was first expected.
However, I used to extra time off from Pocketphile dev (and work thanks to the snow blizzard) and did a little skinning for ML4.1. It's been a while, but I had a good time.
You can find a small preview screen of the image below. I plan on porting this skin to Z-Launcher afterwards, just don't know when.

LOL.. Yeah, I see what you mean. The logo of a product made by Microsoft, Palms' biggest competitor just slapping you in the face everytime you turn on your Clie.
Muah Ha Ha Ha! It's the little ironies in life that make it worth living I always say.
None the less, I like green. Hell, I like glossed green even more. The X-Box just seemed fitting for this skin. You can always use a different background and think of the skin as, for instance, Booger-Style or something. I'll even make a booger wallpaper for you if ya like... (seriously re-thinking that last statement..)

I wish I could stay true to intrepidsilence' statement "no microsoft products enter my household". But sadly enough that's not true. My PC runs both Mandrake9 and WinXP (With Apache&Co configured to run on both system). But I just can't swithch until Wine is able to run PaintShopPro.
I mean, Gimp is nice, but I need a real software to do that. And does VirtualDub run on Wine?
About the theme: Would you mind recoloring it to PS2 blue? I just love that color (The Sony Center in Berlin has all floor marks colored this way and it looks just great at night)

I've gone to far with this skin to just turn around and "re-color" it as it is not as easy as it sounds (The green would turn out more of a blue pastel). I would have to re-render the gradient differently.
No biggie. I plan on eventually doing a PSX version anyhow. I have changed the included background for the release version of the skin. It still has the "X" on top of the green gradient, but no longer says "X Box."

Ouch, ouch, stop hitting me. Ouch! Yes I know I shouldn't have done it, yes I know it doesn't look great, no I didn't recolor the skin, just the picture. And stop kicking!

Is it just me or are images not working anymore on this forum?

Ok ok ok... I get the clue. Let me get the green version up first (In a little bit, but it will be up for download tonight), then I will try this little PSX idea you have using the colors you mentioned.

I really like this skin and don't think it's too green at all. Great job!! Appreciate your time and work and making it available to all of us. Please make more. Thanks again.

Curious.. How many people are actually using MegaLauncher 4.1 as their daily driver (translation: primary launcher)?
Personally, I am not that crazy with skinning this launcher as there are some rather interesting skinning quirks with MegaLauncher 4.1 (certain elements being used more then once in various areas, limiting creativity). Iam sure Hogs knows exactly what I mean.
Is their really a big interest in ML4.q skins? I did X-Style for my own sh!ts and giggles, but if there is really a demand for skins for this launcher, then I guess I'll do a few more even though I am sure Hogs can dish out all the pretty skins you could really want.

Might be a larger demand for ZLauncher, but I'm not 100% on that.

I'm sold on ML 4.1, so I'd love to see more skins...but I may be in a minority...
Yes, it is tricky to be creative with ML4, but the X-Style is a great skin ! It will be a pitty not to continue ;)
So far I think this launcher is the best compromise between available launchers.... not too complexe but with the necessary feature to be a good launcher.
I hate having to design all the ZL gadgets when creating a skin.... so I will mainly work on ML4...

Hogs, I agree with you. MegaLauncher 4.1 is a good compromise for those who want a launcher with decent skinning and background capabilities, and without the bloated list of features and complexity of, IMHO for instance, ZL.
Don't get me wrong, I do very much like Z Launcher (although I'm sure no amount of kissing @ss will save me from that last remark). ZZtechs created a gem with Z Launcher. The constant updates are amazing. However, Z Launcher is beginning to resemble its own Operating System. It's just getting a bit too complicated and bloated for my personal taste.
I do however, wish that MegaLauncher would have kept the ZIP feature in its latest version (The ZIP icon is in the X-Style skin archive for whenever that feature may be added). I also pray that MegaSoft adds a Launcher X'esk file manager into the next version as is mentioned on their site.
I also agree with Hogs on the Z Launcher "Gadget" issue. There are simply way way to many different icons for almost every possible option in that Launcher. Skinning that monster is just a nightmare. I was smack in the middle of doing a Sex Pistons port skin for Z Launcher when version 2 came out effectively rendering the skin, as it was, useless. I scrapped the skin out of frustration.

Couldn't agree more...
ML4, for me, has the right mix of simplicity and function, combined with a very attractive design. I just don't need (or want) every possible function or utility built into a launcher...

I'd also like to see you (and hogs!) keep the ML4 skins coming. I've been using ML3.22, and have been trying out ML4. I'll likely make the switch permanent. I also tried ZL, and it's certainly a superior launcher, but I don't have the time to get everything tweaked the way I want it. ML4, for me at least, seems a little easier to use "out-of-the-box" and does what I need it to do. Keep up the good work!:)
Seems that ML4.1 is ok on my NX (no crashes) It is hard to back to it after using ZL. You get used to the extra functionality so quickly that to go back to ML is difficult. I understand that it is harder work to skin ZL:(

I'm a MegaLauncher 4.1 user and LOVE the launcher. Please PLEASE keep the skins and backgrounds a coming!
I used ML for over a year and 3 weeks ago switched to ZL...I feel so alone in this thread:(

I use ML4.1 exclusively now and think the new skins are great! ( I still keep Silver Screen and ML 3.2.2 on my MS). I would really appreciate the addition of new skins and icons.

I guess I am part of a minority, because I'm a ZLauncher User... I think it uses the screen rather well and with a skin that only uses a light blue tone it looks quite.... uhm .... I hate to say "cool" ... but that's exactly how it looks: calm, but refreshing nevertheless... But that does not make me any less interested in skins for different launchers. If a skin is REALLY nice, somebody always ports it.

I cracked and added the X-Style skin to the ClieSource launcher skin downloads library. Also, I updated the package with a new much cooler background (IMHO) that doesn't have that nasty MS "X" in the middle. Check it out at the URL below.

I am still having some issues with Pocketphile at the moment, so I have some free time for a few days. As much as I really despise making skins for Z-launcher (Not very skinner friendly, but I digress) if their is enough interest in a port of X-Style to Z-Launcher, I'll go for it.
Definitely interested:) But you probably won't get too many people saying they are interested in a ZL skin in an ML thread.

Tixx, I know this is OT, but you said it is hard to go back to ML after switching to ZL because of the added functionality of ZL. Can you be a bit more specific? I used ZL for a while but must have missed it...
(I am serious and not trying to start some kind of war.)

Of course I can't speak for Tixx, but there are a few more things that Z-Launcher has going for it that MegaLauncher 4.1 is currently missing - one of the biggies being a file manager.
However, I myself didn't really like using the built-in Z-Launcher file maanager as is was just a little too slow for my taste. I preferred to use McFile as my primary file manager, but it always nice to have one built-in for quick changes and the sort.
Z-Launcher also has a more robust theme manager that lets you move your themes, backgrounds, and icon sets back and forth between RAM and Card, as well as delete them when you don't want them anymore. You have to use an external File Manager to "manage" the themes for MegaLauncher 4.1 - another good reason why there should be a built-in file manager.
However, on the other side of the coin, I feel that (IMHO) MegaLancher is simpler to use, without the clutter and sometimes overwhelming set of features found in Z-Launcher. It feels faster, which is something that is a big plus to me. Also, ML is just much much much easier to skin. Z-Launcher is a skinners nightmare.
If MegaSoft can build-in a good file manager, theme manager, and give us back the ZIP function in their next version, then MegaLauncher will be some serious competition to Z-Launcher. I can't wait to see what innovative tricks both developers have up their sleeves!

I just installed the new X-style skin. It looks really good, but I have one issue that I need help with:
The skin on my T615C isn't nearly as green as the screenshots here on ClieSource. Is there an adjustment on my Clie that can fix this? Is it the model (T615C) that I use? I really like the sreenshots; the version on my PDA is much duller. Thanks for any help.
There is nothing you can do.... except buying a new pda :(
This problem is linked to the hardware used for the 615/625 series (I do have a 625....)
