Wondering if someone could help me. I have a t665c,
and when I click on the tab that allows you to view apps in the different categories, or all apps, it also gives you the option of viewing what is in your memory card. Even though I have lots of stuff saved on my memory stick, it never displays anything. So I can't view anything, except if I go to ms gate.
Now I have just loaded Facer, seems to work great. It is supposed to allow you to open apps that are saved on the memory stick. But for some reason, this option doesn't work for me. If someone is familiar with Facer, when you click on the info tab in Facer, it should give three options, (1) Device info, (2) apps info and (3) card info. But card is not available to me. So I am wondering if it has to do with the same problem, maybe I haven't activated something.
I am just getting to figuring out what all I can do with my clie. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Mark

First, use MS-Gate or apps like FileZ and McFile to check if your pda can access files in the memory stick.
If you can access it, make sure your apps and databases are stored in a folder called \PALM\LAUNCHER. This is a default folder automaticallly read by the pda when reading the Mstick.
stay cool.

Great, thankyou for replying. I can move stuff back and forth with MS gate, no problem.
But, I was just checking what folder my programs were getting stored in on the memory stick, and it is not the launcher folder.
They get stored in MSFILES which is inside the Programs file. How do I control where things get stored??
Thanks
That is the bad thing about MSGate. It can't move files from one MS directory to another MS directory unlike FileZ (freeware) and McFile (shareware). That is one of the reason I deleted it off ROM and use the space for more useful apps. However, if you still want to use it, here is how I would do it:
1. Move the apps from MSFILES back to RAM (internal card)
2. Open the PALM/LAUNCHER directory in MS (external card)
3. Tap to the RAM option again
4. Scroll down to the app you want to move to MS.
5. Tap Move, then the app will be moved to the PALM/LAUNCHER.

Thanks DanT,
that worked, well for the most part. I can now access apps from my memory stick without having to load them. It still doesn't work for PGpocket files, I have stored on the memory stick though. Facer still doesn't recognize the card, when I go into info. So I still have to exit to the main application menu.
How do you erase MSgate from the ROM, and is it worth it?
Thanks again,

To remove apps from ROM, you'll need a program like Jacksprat. To add apps to ROM, you'll need a program like Jackflash. These two programs are pretty much straightforward, and if you have a lot of ROM to play with, it would be worth it.
If your primary motivation is the removal of MS-Gate, this 76K file is probably not worth the effort and the money. Although I use McFile for all my file manipulation, MS-Gate is able to group related files (bundled files) together, so that I know the related files used by a particular app. Anywayz, I'm getting a little too techie here.
PGPocket files are stored in a different folder: \PALM\PROGRAMS\PICTUREGEAR
Use PictureGear Lite on your PC to transfer files to your MS, I know it should store them in the correct folder. PGPocket knows these folders by default.
A lot of apps know how to access and manipulate the MS without much fuss from you. App Launchers like Megalauncher and Zlauncher allow you to organize your apps logically, regardless of their location. They are a wise investment.
Dictionary and Bible apps allow you to store their massive databases in MS instead of in RAM. The same goes for apps like Handbase, Quickoffice, Docs-to-Go, etc.
stay cool, dude.
JackSprat/JackFlash is a worthwhile app to have. For $20, I was able to free up about 1.5MB ROM. There are some apps that conflict with MSBackup like Today 1.8 and PiDirectII. By putting them in FlashROM, MSBackup wouldn't back them up to MS. That means, I avoid crashing my Clie when I restore the RAM from MS. Also the apps in Flash ROM will survive a hard reset. Another advantage of putting the apps in Flash ROM (vs. putting them in MS) is fast access.
You should use PG Pocket to move its images from RAM to MS. It'll automatically put the images in the right folder, as indicated by Ayamd1. That is what the Menu, Image, Import/Export is for.

Amount of Flash RAM Jackflash can use depends on the unit. Someone I helped out was able to get only 500K extra (which is of course better than nothing) by removing the demo app. Otherwise, His T665's ROM was practically used up. Too bad.
My T650C (Asian version) had 8MB ROM, so after removing the language files, I wound up with a whopping 5MB free.
stay cool, dudes.
