Hi !

Can someone help me with this..

I recorded a conference and would now like to transfer and listen to it via my PC (Windows 2000). I used MS Import to transfer the file to the PC and that worked fine. However, when I tried to play it with Windows MediaPlayer9 it gives the error:

"The audio codec identified by the format tag 11 is required to play this file. To determine if this codec is available to download from the Web, click Web Help."

I then go onto the web and can't find any such Codec 11. I downloaded a file which said it had all the MediaPlayer codecs, but that didn't work either.

How are we supposed to play our Clie voice recordings back on our PCs? Or are we not? I naturally assumed I would be able to.

I'd appreciate any advice, as I'm supposed to be writing up the conference notes and I find it really difficult on the Clie because it's hard to stop it just where I want as it's a 1hr recording.

Thanks :)

why cant you listen to it on the clie and write it out on your PC ??? the RC will let you stop and start wherever you want ... you havent mentioned the format of the file so it is a little difficult to suggest which software you could use for the playback ... :)

Hiya,
You should be able to just play it on your PC.
The longplay mode (i think) is a slightly diferent codec to the high play. I normally use the high quality and then just play it with any windows media program.
That said, I`m pretty there is an update at the clie web site with the codec needed for playing all formats from voice recorder on your windows PC. (would insert url here but cbf so happy searching sony)

There is a slightly different codec for long play record and normal record.
I use the normal mode, high quality and can play them with any media player in windows.
There is a codec at the sony clie site that will enable you to listen to the long play recorded wavs. (would enter the url if I cbf searching the sony site for it, so looks you you`ll have to)

the following on Sony's support site (http://ciscdb.sel.sony.com/cgi-bin/swu-index.pl):

This program updates VoiceRecorder on your CLIÉ handheld by adding or fixing the following:

* VoiceRec: Enables audio files that are recorded in LP mode to be played with the standard player on your PC system (Win2K SP3 or Windows® XP).
* VoiceDataConverter: Converts previously recorded audio files recorded in LP mode to a format compatible with your PC system (Win2K SP3 or Windows XP).
Note: Audio files recorded in SP mode can be played regardless of this software update.
