Hey,

I was wondering whether the European version of NX80V had bluetooth. If it doesn't then I will have to go for NX73V since I have a Bluetooth phone.

There is no Euro NX80. They only made the 73, and it's silver, not black like the Japan/US model.

If bluetooth is more important, then get the European NX73. for me, I can't live with just 16MB of RAM (I have 32MB w/JackFlash) and a 0.3 MegaPixel camera and no light...but that's just me. I bought the Bluetooth Memory Stick card (extremely hard to find though) for my NX80. I use bluetooth with my Siemens s56, but not all the time, so for me, the BT MS works for me. It really depends on what you will use more.

hi paul
do you use the msbt to dial and send sms from the nx80 to your siemens? or just sending the data between your nx80 and the phone?

I'm actually using the BT MS to dial out and allow me to get on the internet. As for the SMS, I text through my phone. Not sure if Cingular charges me for each one because I'm using my Clie instead of my phone. I just checked my account online and it doesn't show that I'm being charged. I think I'm sending data through the phone. I don't have to dial into my phone to send SMS messages, just to get on the internet. I'm still now too familiar with how SMS and GSM and GPRS and all that stuff...I'm reading up on it as we speak. I actually work on MS and Cisco networks.

I have used a UX 50 via bluetooth with a SE T610 phone to the internet and email without any problems. I also was able to use a friend's NZ90 via bluetooth with the same phone to use internet, email etc. without any problems. Recently purchased a NX80 and I already owned a MS Bluetooth card from my NR70 days. I can pair the NX80/phone, swap contacts etc between phone and NX80 via bluetooth, get an internet connection via a Belkin Bluetooth Access Point, but can not get GPRS or GSM connection with the phone. I keep getting lost bluetooth or serial error. I tried the latest EN version of the bluetooth suite for OS5, but that did not help. Did you need other files in addition to the bluetooth drivers and sony GSM driver? If so, where can they be obtained?

Thanks

Reference my prior posting in this thread. Although I was using the same connection and network settings as I successfully used on the UX50 and NZ90 to connect GPRS (via bluetooth) to a SE 610 phone, I could not get a bluetooth GPRS connection between the NX80 and the SE610 phone. The NX80 and SE610 would pair fine and exchange address info via bluetooth, but the bluetooth connection would be lost when I tried to get a GPRS connection via bluetooth.

I changed the phone visibility setting from "Show Phone" to "Hide Phone" on the SE610 and the NX80 now obtains a GPRS connection via bluetooth to the SE610 phone without any setting changes on the NX80. To be sure it was not just a NX80 quirk, I tried with a NX70 as well, using the same MS bluetooth card. The NX70 also could not obtain a GPRS connection with the SE phone until the phone visibility setting was changed from "Show Phone" to "Hide Phone".

The UX50, NZ90 and PPC's all obtained a GPRS connection with a phone visibility setting of "Show Phone". If you are having a problem obtaining a GPRS bluetooth connection between a NX70/NX80 (with MS bluetooth card) and a bluetooth phone, try setting the the visibility of the phone to "Hide Phone" after you pair the NX80/NX70 and the phone. That did the trick for me.

Fortunately, all the other devices that worked fine with a visibility setting of "Show Phone" have no problem connecting with the phone visibility setting of "Hide Phone". You just have to remember to set the phone visibility setting back to "Show Phone" when you wish to pair another device with the phone.

it is crazy.

jimtravis, just like you said, as soon as i turned off the visibility of the device (hide phone), now my nx80 can dial and sms thru the nx80.

thanks man .....
i owe you one.

but too bad, i've bought the tungsten t3 because of this bt function.

Any Ideas?
I keep getting a Phone Error "Feature not supported by device or network."
Could I be missing a driver?
Any help appreciated...

I rather get a CF bluetooth, it is much cheaper.
