I have the PEG-NX80V/U.

Bought it...at most 6 months ago.

Backlight of the screen seems to be dead.

Only recent occurance of late is that this seems to have happened after charging it. Usually, when I charge it, nothing new...

This time...it seemed to have reset itself...

Do I just have to change the contrast? Find a setting to turn the brightness up? I don't remember ever having to do that before after a reboot of any sort.

ARRRRGH!

I shall wait...for now...

Slide the hold/power button down and hold it there for a sec. This should turn the brightness back on if this is indeed the problem. Hope that helps you .. Cheers

Your clie backlight had indeed died. Taking pity, however, I magicked it back to life. You are very welcome.

I don't know what it was...all the data got wiped as well. (I currently buy into that train of thought that you have to drain the battery completely from time to time...for "battery memory's" sake...you know?

LOL. You all are great! Help a newbie out...what is this LMAO you speak of?

And you know what? I believe in magic!

When in doubt, whip it out.

Isn't that what Google is for? so you don't have to keep the manual on ANYTHING.

I googled up the manual on a programmable remote I had for a VCR. After that well.. let's just say I recycle a lot more.

Unless of course I plan to eBay it later.
