View Full Version : Any problems using a hot sync / charging cable all the time?

I used a 3rd party USB hot sync / charging cable all the time for my clie 615 and saw no problems. I used the same cable with my NX70 and after about 3 mos, the battery was only holding about a 45 minute charge. I swapped it in yesterday for a NZ 90 and cautious about using it for it as well. The cradle for the Nz90 stinks so the cable is even more attractive.

Anyone know if I'm going to have problems using it all the time? Thanks!

Will the cable fit into the recessed opening for the NZ?

Its fits quite well, clicks and locks and everything. Its a great solution as opposed to the dumb cradle they ship with. But I hear it takes longer to charge via USB and I wonder if it caused my battery problems on my old NX70.

That is interesting. If you go to the Sony website and look at the accessories available for them, you see that the ac adaptor and the sync cables work with the NZ but they ad the disclaimer that you must use the USB cradel for it. That is nice to know. I have an aftermarket adaptor that allows both sync and charge with the USB port, haven't had any problems with any other Clies that I have owned.

Exactly what is wrong with the cradle? I know the design is different this time out but it looks fine in the pictures I have seen. So what is actually wrong with it?

i bought a nz sat. at best buy. the cradle will not hot sync the pda. i use the enclosed cable with the adapter and attach it directly to the pda. these are the same cords that came with the nx. the cradle is terrible. i hate it. i am going to send it back to sony. i thought i just had a bad cradle.

The hotsync button is on the bottom right "foot" on the end. A little chrome button with the Hotsync logo molded into it...
However, if you already knew that and it doesn't work.... I'd take it back....
