Is it necessary to format my 256mb Memory Stick Pro? What benefits willl it provide?

If it is preferred, I already have a few applications on the memory stick. What is the best way to format it now? Thanks!

Much like you hard drive it don't hurt to reformat it to get the files in some kind of order. But on the Clie it does not matter unless you get a corrupt file and it is forcing you to reformat the card. If it is not then don't bother with it. It's all good:cool:

Ok, working on the assumption that Clie writes to the mem-stick in the same way as a digital cam, then it is possible a good idea to format the card after you have placed and removed a large number of files a few times (MP3s and Video). This is for the same reason that you de-frag your hard drive from time to time. In the case of a digital camera, if you don't format it every now and then the card will become corrupt and you loose your pictures. All this means is it is forcing you to format now. So, eventually you will wind up formating, but just keep a backup and don't stress.
